A Big Cheers To Five Years!

The Tap and Vine has thrived since owners Debbie and Jason Colles first got the keys five years ago. Today, it is one of the most popular drinking destinations in the town, writes Emma Brereton

The concept of The Tap and Vine was to create a place that supported local breweries with a warm and friendly atmosphere, making a personal connection with every customer who pops in for a drink.

“The business has hugely evolved over the last five years,” says owner Debbie. “We have listened to our customer base and developed our offering following valuable feedback which has resulted in us serving up a menu that complements our drinks selection perfectly.”

Customers love the platters of local produce, scotch eggs, pork pies, chutneys, cold meats, cheese and bread – you can even opt for pie and chips to go with your pint. The Tap and Vine has carefully crafted a menu to match the range of drinks on offer from local independent breweries to national players.

“We always support small local breweries to provide a selection of niche craft ales and there’s a familiar brand on tap that’s an easy drinker and well known to our customers. The reaction to our venture has been overwhelming, especially during Covid. We are ever-grateful to the customers who continued to order real ales and platters from us for home-delivery when our doors had to remain shut for so long due to restrictions,” adds Jason.

Debbie puts the success of The Tap and Vine down to its central location and overwhelming customer support – it’s a quirky building that’s not too big.

She added: “People feel comfortable coming to The Tap and Vine on their own because of the community feel. There’s always a friendly face awaiting you and if you’d like some alone time, the building has lots of little nooks where a peaceful drink can be enjoyed.”

The Tap and Vine is available for bookings seven days a week and Jason and Debbie welcome suggestions around the ales on offer.
