A Fine Romance…

With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, it’s the perfect time of year to focus on romance, writes Gail Bailey

February is certainly the month of love and romance with research telling us that over a million people across the globe will be pledging to tie the knot on 14th February.

Whether you are planning an engagement or not, Valentine’s Day presents the perfect opportunity to celebrate!

Across the Ribble Valley there are restaurants and rural country inns that are perfect for a Valentine’s Day celebration. Why not combine a meal with a romantic walk – book the day off work and enjoy the fresh air and beautiful countryside.

If you are planning a proposal as Valentine’s Day approaches, bear in mind 2020 is also a Leap Year so it’s an opportunity for the tables to turn and for the girls to go down on one knee and propose! Legend has it that this long-standing tradition dates back to the fifth century when an Irish nun complained to St Patrick that women had to wait too long for their suitors to propose! So, they agreed a deal, and St Patrick declared this one day every four years when women were allowed to propose.

But no matter who does the proposing, planning a wedding is an incredibly exciting time, with so many things to consider and different themes to ponder to ensure a magical day of celebrations.

Both bride and grooms have so many wonderful choices to celebrate and seal their love for one another. Weddings can be both traditional and formal in a church, or more relaxed and informal at a hotel or other venue.

So, enjoy this month of love and romance whether you’re planning to propose, organising a special day out for just the two of you or just daydreaming about someone special – Happy Valentine’s Day to you all!
