A Shared Vision

When it comes to a sponsorship partnership, you wouldn’t think that a golf club and an optician had much in common, but that’s where you’re wrong, writes Tracy Hargreaves. Photography: Steve Wright

Ashton & Lea Golf Club has a new sponsorship partner. The Spectacle Factory in Bamber Bridge has signed a deal with the club with the aim to support each other, not only in generating new customers, but also to provide help and advice to its members. The focus of attention is on the range of glasses available for golfers to help improve their vision and game.

The club is highly praised for its excellent greens, its welcoming approach and latterly, its quality of catering.

Located on the western edge of Preston, it is a very well maintained parkland course that provides challenges for all abilities, from beginners to experts with low handicaps. It also offers extensive practice facilities, which are maintained to the same high standards as the course.

Robert Sands from The Spectacle Factory says: “Every shot a golfer plays is influenced by their vision. Whether it’s general-use glasses tailored for golf, or dedicated golf eyewear, there are four key ways we can make improvements; improved focusing at the ball by your feet (conventional glasses cause problems with this), better peripheral vision when assessing the shot you’re about to play, glare reduction for brighter days and enhanced contrast which means following the ball further and reading the greens in more detail. We’ve helped many clients improve their handicaps and our aim is to educate more golfers about how important their vision is, starting with members at Ashton & Lea thanks to this exciting partnership.”

The Spectacle Factory has been established for over 20 years, and is currently the top-rated optician in Lancashire according to Google Reviews. It brings to market the latest technologies to improve its clients’ vision, and source unique glasses and sunglasses from all over the world. It has a unique approach that transforms the process of choosing the perfect glasses into an amazing experience.

Steve Wright of Ashton & Lea Golf Club added: “As part of the sponsorship deal, there is a display of specialist Nike golf glasses in the Pro shop. Not only can members see what eyewear is available, but it is also possible to borrow a pair for a trial round. So far, members who have purchased these specialist golf glasses have really seen a difference in their rounds of golf. The Nike spectacles are also used by the club’s golf professional, Dan Clark, and when asked about the product, says that of all the specialist golf glasses he has tried, the Nike products are by far the best.

“It’s good to see the relationship between the club and The Spectacle Factory working. Members are now using the company for day-to-day optical requirements, and The Spectacle Factory is recommending the golf club to its customers thinking of taking up the sport. It’s a win, win situation and we look forward to working together for a long time into the future.”
