“A Sunday Well Spent…

…brings a week of content”, so the saying goes and I know I’m not on my own when I say that Sunday is shaped by whichever choice of roast dinner we’ll be having. Sunday lunch is a tradition which will never go out of style, writes Liz Walmsley

For over 30 years, the Lioveri family has been delighting guests with their contemporary Italian cooking and a warm and inviting atmosphere at their Lytham restaurant Novello, making it the perfect place to enjoy a delicious Sunday lunch.

Accomplished chef Sal takes the finest ingredients, perfectly aged rib-eye cuts of beef, or local free-range chicken, seasonal vegetables, prepares them with precision and presents them beautifully. Quality not quantity – simple yet delicious is the ethos underpinning everything at Novello. That said, don’t be fooled into thinking this means it’s expensive, it’s also great value for money, so don’t save Sunday lunch just for occasions such as Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, birthdays or anniversaries – Sunday should be celebrated every week!

Spring is here and to mark the new season, Sal is introducing a more informal dining experience, with new smaller plates for sharing – have as little or as many as you’d like. With no compromise on quality, classic Italian flavours are combined with modern techniques resulting in a beautiful selection of dishes that are as visually stunning as they are delicious. A perfect opportunity to sample a broader selection of plates, whether it’s hand rolled pasta, delicately cooked seafood or perfectly seared steak rather than restrict yourself to just one dish! With warmer weather just around the corner and the opportunity to eat outside, it makes a great impromptu lunch or early supper option too.

To elevate your dining experience, choose from a thoughtfully selected wine list, featuring Italian classics and hidden gems chosen by Tony. Whether you’re a fan of a crisp Pinot Grigio or a bold Barolo, you’ll find the perfect pairing for your meal. There is also a nice selection of wines by the glass, so you don’t have to miss out if you’re lucky enough not to be the designated driver.

At Novello, it’s not just about the food – it’s about the entire experience. Sal, Tony and Vera are passionate about providing an exceptional personal service, ensuring that every visit feels special, whether you’re a regular or visiting for the first time.

With around 35 covers in the main restaurant, it retains an intimacy which can sometimes be lost in larger restaurants. A private area down the sweeping staircase lends itself perfectly to small private functions such as family events and parties, so don’t miss out on this fantastic opportunity to gather your friends, family, or that special someone and experience outstanding Italian dining at an incredible price.

Buon appetito!
