A Toast To Excellence

Whether you’re a seasoned oenophile or a curious enthusiast, an exclusive wine club, introduced by what is fast becoming one of the Ribble Valley’s most celebrated pubs, will further elevate the gastronomic experience, writes Katie Hammond

Since opening in the spring of 2023, Bob Geldeard’s labour of love and food has seen his vision of excellence realised with startling aplomb and clarity.

The latest addition to the Rum Fox’s popular repertoire promises to be an unparalleled experience, pairing celebrated and award-winning wines from suppliers Milestone Wines of Clitheroe with the menu’s exquisite flavours – a true celebration of taste, heritage and discovery.

Having built on his solid reputation as head chef at both the Duke of York, Grindleton and The Higher Buck, Waddington, Bob and partner Kiaja set about turning their ambitious vision into reality when they took on the run-down and derelict former Buck Inn in Grindleton and transformed it to what is today a stunningly restored Georgian country pub and restaurant, viewed by many as the ultimate local dining experience.

Bob says: “We have worked hard to showcase some of the best seasonal and local produce that the Ribble Valley has to offer. For us, it’s about the whole dining experience and we think the wine club will give us the opportunity to give guests a further elevated experience. Local expert Richard Bracken from Milestone Wines will be on hand to guide them through wines that are superbly paired with the five-course tasting menu to give expert knowledge which will be enlightening and interesting for all fine food and wine lovers.”

The new year ahead is set to see this beautiful Ribble Valley inn, described as ‘One of Britain’s Cosiest Pubs’ by the Good Food Guide 2024, set for many more industry plaudits as its bright star rises and soars.

Bob continues: “We have so much more in store for 2025 and beyond and we’ve loved welcoming locals and guests from further afield since opening. It’s great to know that people are loving what we do and the cherry on the cake is being placed as finalists in the Lancashire Tourism Awards and ‘One to Watch’ in the Top 50 Gastro pubs.”

Open from midday from Wednesday to Sunday, the ever-popular Saturday and Sunday lunch slots mean booking is essential, especially at weekends – go and see what makes this beautiful fox so special.
