A Year For Romance

While weddings have been limited in guest numbers over the previous year, 2021 will hopefully see a relaxation of the rules so couples can plan ahead

If you’ve been building up the courage to propose and have decided now the time is right, you’ll want to find the perfect moment to pop the question. After all, it is our loved ones, that have helped see us through the past year of uncertainty.

Before you ask that all important question or create the best surprise scenario, you need to make sure you’re confident on your engagement ring choice. Your partner may have been dropping hints about rings for ages, but it’s all down to you — so here are some useful tips.

The style is vitally important – as a general rule a solitaire is always a classic, or you could go for a cluster or if you’re thinking of something quirky and unique you could go down the vintage route.

Getting the right amount of sparkle is also important and this will be determined by the cut. It could be princess, emerald, oval, pear or marquise – whatever you choose it will be perfect if you have considered the ‘diamond checklist’ – the cut, clarity, colour and carat.

And assuming your partner says ‘yes’, you now have to start planning!

With all the uncertainty of 2020 hopefully fading fast, many couples who had to postpone their weddings have already booked dates for 2021 so this year venues are going to be mega-busy! Many used the lockdowns of 2020 to refurbish and refresh and when restrictions were eased, they hosted one-to-one appointment-only show-arounds for couples.

So, if you are planning to get married this year or in 2022 you really do need to be thinking ahead. There’s lots to think about, if you want to tie the knot in church then you need to get a date booked as well as a venue. Once those are done, that will set the tone for your big day.

Other things to consider include THE dress, bridesmaids, wedding rings, flowers, transport, guest accommodation, speeches, menus and the honeymoon – the list is endless!

Perhaps one of the most important aspects of planning a wedding is to enjoy it – once we have clarity and certainty as we go into 2021, couples can plan ahead and look forward to their very special day!
