The Black Bull at Old Langho is ready for a vibrant summer season. With a fresh new look, a mouthwatering spring menu and a host of outdoor events, Becky Govier and her team are set to make this summer their best yet, writes Tedd Walmsley
I caught up with the ever-enthusiastic Becky Govier, proud owner of the independently run Black Bull, on a bright spring morning. With her trademark energy and genuine passion for hospitality, Becky shared her excitement for the months ahead. After a stunning refurbishment, the Black Bull is now firmly on the map as one of the Ribble Valley’s standout destinations for alfresco dining.
As the warmer weather rolls in, the outdoor space truly comes to life. “It’s what summer’s all about,” Becky beamed. “Long evenings, great food and that relaxed atmosphere our guests love.”
Dog owners will be pleased to know the outdoor area is dog-friendly, welcoming four-legged friends to join in the fun. The full menu is available outside, allowing diners to enjoy everything from fresh seasonal starters to hearty mains under the open sky.
Live music is set to return, bringing a laid-back festival feel to weekends. There’s also talk of barbecues and wood-fired pizza nights, perfect for families, friends and anyone looking to unwind with great food and drink.
Inside, the new spring menu is already proving a hit. Packed with vibrant flavours and locally sourced ingredients, it reflects Becky’s vision of approachable yet creative pub dining. “We’ve taken a lot of time to get this right,” she tells me. “It’s fresh, it’s seasonal and it’s full of dishes we know people love.”
The Barn at the Black Bull is also turning heads. This flexible space is available for everything from weddings to business events. Becky speaks with real pride about how it can be transformed for each occasion. “We’ve hosted everything from baby showers to funerals,” she says. “It’s about making every event personal and memorable.”
There’s a real sense that this summer will be a special one at the Black Bull. Having recently been recognised as Pub of the Year by Marketing Lancashire, Becky and her team have even more reason to celebrate. With Becky at the helm, it’s impossible not to share in her optimism and excitement.
