AT THE HEART OF A FAMILY HOME…

When Katie Green of Heart of your Home Kitchens posted images of her work on Instagram it caught the eye and the imagination of mum-of-two Suzanne, who was looking to update the kitchen of her new home.

Suzanne, who lives with her husband Andrew and two children in a four-bedroom, stone-built Victorian terrace, had also seen the June issue of Live Ribble Valley magazine and spotted a kitchen that had just been completed by Heart of your Home Kitchens.

“While Suzanne wanted a different colour, she loved the Shaker style cabinetry and the bespoke mantle over the range cooker,” recalls Katie.

When Suzanne and her family moved into their house at the end of last year, they knew the kitchen was definitely going to be at the heart of their new home!

“The old kitchen was outdated and not good quality, it was cream with laminate tops,” explains Suzanne. “While we considered doing the kitchen ourselves, we decided that if we could afford to let someone else do the planning and take all the stress away, we would.”

After meeting Katie on-site, Suzanne visited Heart of your Homes’ beautiful studio in Waddington: “Katie made us feel so relaxed about everything. She came up with two different plans and showed us a brand new sample door in Stone, which we loved.

“She came back to us quickly with a quote, which was within our budget, so it was all systems go!”

Choosing Langley units from the Second Nature collection, Suzanne and Andrew also opted for white quartz worktops with a touch of sparkle.

Just like the kitchen she had seen in the magazine, a Belling range cooker was installed with a bespoke mantle above it, along with the addition of a Belfast sink and Victorian style radiator.

Feature lighting was installed along with new appliances including a dishwasher, American fridge-freezer and Blanco tap.

The kitchen also incorporates a new bespoke window seat and Katie was able to design and include three storage cupboards underneath.

“It’s really practical as the children can sit on the seat and we can store their shoes and boots in the cupboards,” adds Suzanne, who has a keen eye for detail.

“We are both really interested in interiors – I worked in my family’s lighting and furniture business so I always keep an eye on current trends.”

“Our new kitchen is perfect,” says Suzanne. “We just love it. It works well for us as a family and we so enjoy living in our nice new home.”

“The whole process of working alongside Katie at Heart of your Home Kitchens has been wonderful. We got on so well with her and she kept in touch with us every step of the way. Mick, Katie’s kitchen fitter was great – he was so professional and Katie was just lovely. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend her!”
