Bringing Private GP Services To The High Street
Fylde Private GP’s key focus is to provide an alternative for GP services for those on the Fylde coast
The new practice aims to provide people in the region with fast and easy access to private GP services. With increased pressure on the NHS and the growing demand for private health services, the practice will be welcomed by many in the region.
Located in the heart of St Annes, the warm, welcoming and comfortable environment will help make patients feel relaxed and valued.
A lead GP for the new Practice is a local GP, Dr Maharaj, with 16 years as an NHS GP. Dr Maharaj commented: “The entire way patients are seen in primary care has changed dramatically over the past 18 months. General practice is facing an incredibly challenging time with high demand for primary care services. During Covid, many people have been reluctant to see their GP. Now with Covid measures easing, more people want to see their GP, including those requiring urgent treatment, which they have been putting off for a long time. This is creating a huge backlog and putting greater pressure on all healthcare services.”
Matthew Cook, Managing Director, said: “Here at Fylde Private GP we’re offering people an alternative and giving them the choice to see a GP privately. The 30 minutes’ consultation enables us to build a relationship with the patient and take a holistic approach to their health and wellbeing. It gives patients an opportunity to discuss more than one medical problem if needed or explore any other health and wellness concerns. Patients are free to choose how they are seen, face to face, video, phone or even a home visit, the choice is entirely theirs.”
The length of the appointment reflects the proactive approach of the practice, which is keen on preventative care and tackling any health issues before they occur and catching any conditions early on. To encourage this the practice offers annual MOTs or full health checks, which offer reassurance to patients and could potentially flag any health issues or areas of concern.
Patient confidentiality is highly respected by the practice and patients have the choice of whether they want the Practice to share their consultation notes with their NHS GP.
Dr Maharaj concluded: “We are offering people in the area an alternative for their healthcare, and very much see this as a complementary service to the NHS and other health providers in the region. Our aim is to make patients feel cared for and valued in our warm, inviting and contemporary premises by delivering a personalised and valuable service to each of our patients.”
