BUILT TO LAST

Isuzu’s D-Max range of pick-ups have just landed at Walton Summit, but are these load-luggers up to the task? Matthew Parkinson reports

The D-Max range of pick-ups give buyers the best of both worlds, with ready-for-anything robustness mixed with small car simplicity. The new D-Max range is lighter, using a reworked, lightened turbo diesel engine to deliver 40mpg, whilst still offering up a rugged 360Nm of torque. This allows the Isuzu D-Max to tow 3.5 tonnes or carry 1.1 tonnes in the load bed. Despite its industrial strength diesel engine and unlike its commercial competitors, the new engine meets Euro 6 emissions regulations, meaning there’s no need to use AdBlue fuel additive.

When it comes to substance, Isuzu have nailed it, but what about style? Hop inside the spacious cab, sink into the leather seats and you’ll find that you’ve a plethora of optional extras available to you. Sensible options such as a reversing camera, parking sensors and keyless entry help to save time and effort between jobs, and this glut of free time can be spent enjoying music and multimedia on the go thanks to a 7” multifunction touch screen and Apple CarPlay functionality.

As well as asking you what you want from your new truck, Walton Summit’s experts are also happy to listen to what you can do without, meaning your new Isuzu can be as plush or as practical as you like. For some, less is more, which is why the D-Max can be stripped right back to the bare essentials. Practical black plastic can replace painted or chrome bumpers, you can swap out the double cab for a single, and you can even ditch the four-wheel-drive for two.

The Isuzu D-Max is truly capable of fitting a variety of needs, and appropriately, so are the people selling it. Walton Summit operate as a specialised family business offering the clout of a main dealer without the costs, working every bit as hard as they expect their vehicles to. Nigel Perplus and his team offer servicing, repairs, and a mammoth stock of parts for Fiat, Iveco and Isuzu vehicles.

While the team at Walton Summit hope you never need to make use of Isuzu’s 125,000 mile, five-year warranty, there’s even a 24 hour recovery and courtesy vehicle service should you need it, and customers can take advantage of Walton Summit’s 24 hour service centre to reduce downtime.

When it comes to getting the job done, it’s nice to know that the Walton Summit team work just as hard as they expect their trucks to.
