Burnley College Sixth Form Centre:

Ignite Your Curiosity

Burnley College Sixth Form Centre is committed to building futures and changing the lives of students

“From the moment I entered Burnley College, I felt at home in the welcoming and friendly atmosphere. I knew I would be supported and guided along the best pathway to success.”

Those are the words of former Ribblesdale High School pupil Annalise Hodgson (18), a triple A* A Level student at Burnley College Sixth Form Centre, now reading Law at the University of York, en route to a career as a barrister.

Annalise’s experience has not been limited to the classroom during her time at Burnley College. We’re passionate about feeding students’ curiosity and taking learning into real-world experiences.

Annalise says: “As part of my studies I met prison officers and members of the justice system who shared their career journeys. It gave me a sense of how rewarding a career in law can be.

“By far the best thing about Burnley College has been my growth as a person,” adds Annalise. “The independence and self-esteem I’ve gained has helped me flourish.”

That life-changing self-belief springs from the supportive, focused and empowering environment at the College’s £100 million campus at the heart of Burnley, with easy access to transport links and a direct bus into the college grounds from the Ribble Valley.

Principal Karen Buchanan says: “We are committed to building futures and changing lives. We’re passionate about sparking the curiosity of learners. We care about every individual learner and will help them achieve their goals, whatever they may be, offering them the personalised support – academic and health and wellbeing – to exceed their expectations.”
