Financial support for Lancashire businesses
Small and medium-sized enterprises across Lancashire are defying the economic downturn with financial support from Access to Finance Lancashire (A2F Lancashire), funded by Lancashire County Council and the European Regional Development Fund. One SME to have benefited from the support is Chorley’s Fresh Perspective Resourcing. Founded by sisters FP Resourcing decided to make use of the diverse support available to help shift their focus onto sectors that were still thriving during lockdown, as well as offering virtual training for businesses and candidates.

Countdown for virtual illuminations
It was Blackpool’s biggest party of the year and everyone was invited! The traditional Illuminations switch-on concert usually takes place in a packed seafront arena with an audience of 20,000 people. However, Covid restrictions on large-scale events meant no live event for the first time in more than 70 years. The hour-long streamed concert was freely accessible and included exclusive “at home” performances by the likes of Melanie C and Fleur East as well as a performance by Diversity.

Partnership to tackle housing shortage
Leading national housebuilder Lovell Partnerships and Together Housing Group have joined forces to create Lovell Together LLP, an innovative joint venture to tackle the housing crisis across the North of England. It will create much needed quality developments, form new communities and meet housing delivery targets across the region. The venture will enable both partners to share expertise and resources to identify and secure large-scale opportunities to develop high quality mixed tenure new homes.

Rosebud invests £2m into Lancashire businesses
Lancashire County Council’s Rosebud Fund, which invests between £10,000 and £300,000 in businesses across the region, has reached a lending milestone of £2m. Since GC Business Finance was appointed to deliver the fund in July 2019, Rosebud has made 16 investments which have enabled businesses across Lancashire to expand and has directly resulted in the creation of over 100 new jobs.

Plans for Sports Direct to open in Chorley
Chorley Council has announced that the UK’s number 1 sporting goods retailer, Sports Direct and USC will be coming to Chorley town centre. The well-known brands, both part of Frasers Group PLC, have agreed to take occupancy of two units in the new Market Walk extension, bringing an exciting range of both sporting and fashion brands to the town. The store is expected to open this winter.

Building commences on New Day Surgery Hospital
Building has commenced on a state-of-the-art day surgery hospital at Buckshaw Village, Chorley which will provide services for NHS, insured and self-pay patients. The new facility will be an extension of services offered by Fulwood Hall Hospital and Euxton Hall Hospital, which are part of the Ramsay Health Care Group. The new day surgery hospital is due to be completed in July 2021 and will provide care across a range of specialities.
