Leading the way
UK manufacturer Baxi Heating, which has manufacturing facilities in Preston, is delighted to announce the appointment of Karen Boswell OBE as managing director of Baxi Heating UK and Ireland. She will lead the next stage of Baxi Heating’s journey towards a sustainable future and net zero carbon. Karen joins from Hitachi Rail and is an accomplished leader, whose career spans different industry sectors. She has a strong focus on business improvement and accelerating growth.
Preston Council award
Preston City Council’s planning department has been judged to provide “an exemplary approach to identifying, unlocking and kick-starting brownfield housing sites.” Preston’s City Living Strategy has won the Planning for Increased Housing Delivery Award and the overall Editor’s Choice Award at the national Planning Awards 2020. City Living Preston provides the overarching framework for housing growth in the city centre and surrounding inner suburbs.
New appointment at Stanley House Hotel & Spa
Stanley House Hotel & Spa has appointed Simon Tauber as general manager. Simon, from Preston, joined in 2016 as restaurant and bar manager, later moving into an operations role. In 2018, he took on the general manager role at Hever Hotel Resort in Kent, before re-joining Stanley House in January 2020. Simon’s appointment signals the start of a new era, after Monte Hotels acquired the hotel in August.
Automotive Retailer Reveals New Partnership
Porsche Centre Preston has agreed a new commercial partnership with Moor Hall Restaurant with Rooms in Aughton, West Lancashire. The partnership will pave the way for the two businesses to work more closely together on a number of commercial and marketing initiatives including digital content and VIP client events, as well as focus on the prestige automotive dealership and two-Michelin-starred restaurant’s shared interests including sustainability and exclusive luxury experiences.
EVAs celebrate 10 years
The 10th anniversary of the Enterprise Vision Awards (EVAs) will now take place on Friday 5th February 2021. The awards are dedicated solely to female entrepreneurship and are backed by both Lancashire Business View and NatWest. The search is on for winning women and is a chance for businesswomen to shine the spotlight on their successes and achievements. The closing date for entries has been extended until midnight on Friday 30th October 2020.
New head at the helm
The Wildlife Trust for Lancashire, Manchester and North Merseyside has appointed Tom Burditt as its new Chief Executive. Tom is currently general manager in the north lakes for the National Trust and brings with him, not only a wealth of experience, but a real passion for nature. Tom will take the reins from long-standing Chief Executive Anne Selby. Tom will join in December this year.
