New state-of-the-art leisure facility
TeamSport, the UK’s largest indoor karting company, is opening its newest state of the art track in Bamber Bridge this summer. The track will create over 30 full time and part time jobs and will recruit talented managers and customer service champions from all over the local area. Located on the Walton Summit Industrial Estate, the £1.2m development will attract motor enthusiasts and thrill seekers to a safe, new karting experience.

New chief executive for Marketing Lancashire
Rachel McQueen has been appointed as the new chief executive of Marketing Lancashire. Rachel joins from Marketing Cheshire where she held the role of tourism director and previously worked at Marketing Manchester, as director of marketing and deputy chief executive. She is delighted to be given the opportunity to lead Marketing Lancashire and believes that this is one of the best-placed in the country, to set the standard for future destination management organisations. She’s due to take up her position in May.

Charity success
Gainsborough Flooring held a Fizz Challenge evening at its showroom off Corporation Street in Preston in aid of St Catherine’s Hospice. Seventy five guests from local businesses and many customers enjoyed tasting over 15 different fizzes presented by Mick Gould, fine wine expert. A raffle with prizes donated from Barton Grange Hotel, Steve Ryding Hairdressers, Macmillans Gifts and The Beauty Room, Preston helped lift the total money raised to £1940. An amazing achievement.

New cinema coming to Chorley
The operator behind Chorley’s new cinema, Reel, is looking forward to opening in the borough. The six-screen cinema, all of different sizes, will be the first in Chorley for a generation. It’s part of the Chorley Council-owned Market Walk shopping centre extension. It will have the latest technology and will give the residents of Chorley a cinema showing the latest blockbuster movies right on their doorstep. The cinema is expected to open in late 2019.

Award winners
Inchcape Jaguar Preston is celebrating after being presented with a Retailer of the Year accolade at the Jaguar Land Rover Annual Retailer Awards. The retail centre, was awarded third place in the Sales Retailer of the Year category. The accolade is part of the Jaguar Land Rover Annual Retailer Awards which are presented to the best dealerships from across JLR’s national franchised network. The Preston retail centre is one of 16 dedicated to the Jaguar and Land Rover prestigious car brands.

FSB recognises local business heroes
The Federation of Small Businesses’ North West Business Awards celebrated some of the region’s finest firms.
Winners included: Ethical and Green Business of the Year – Crowberry Consulting from Chorley; Scale up Business of the Year – Group55, celebrated pet care manufacturers from Chorley; Start-Up Business of the Year – Huxter. Kidswear online children’s fashionwear design and handmade manufacturing from Preston-based Sophie Bell-Carr and Young Entrepreneur of the Year – James Calderbank, body transformation coach in Preston.
