The entrepreneurial spirit is alive and well in the thriving Ribble Valley, where business always matters

MILESTONE ANNIVERSARY
This month, brother and sister team Daniel and Deborah Burke will have successfully navigated 20 years in business together. The pair own and operate Lightworks Stained Glass from their studio in Clitheroe along with their small dedicated team. The firm specialises in the design and production of high-end bespoke new commissions and the restoration, conservation and protection of existing stained, leaded and historic glazing. Daniel says: “It’s quite something to think we’ve been working away in our little studio together for 20 years but those years have literally flown by.”

NEW TEAM MEMBER
A new member of the senior team has been appointed at a leading Accrington care home and is driving the future of care forward by encouraging people to take up nursing. Bernadette Bennett is now the deputy manager of Springhill Care Home after 38 years of working in the care sector for the NHS and private sector. Bernadette, who has been promoted after being at Springhill as Service Manager for three years, said: “Springhill is a great place to work even though it is quite large. It actually feels like a family here and that is something that I value. This enables us to make it a home from home for our residents as well.”

WEDDING WINNER
Mellor-based Stanley House Hotel and Spa is celebrating success after securing double recognition for its wedding offering. The multi-award-winning hotel has scooped a finalist place in the Wedding Venue category of the Lancashire Tourism Awards, while it has also been named a nominee in this year’s Great Northern Wedding Awards.
