Celebrate Carnival Style

In June 2019 Preston Caribbean Carnival marks the 45th year of celebrating all things Caribbean, cultural and artistic in the city of Preston

Previous years have attracted more than 30,000 visitors, joining in the fun along the route and in the park. With award winning costumes created by carnival artists, vibrant colours and inclusive family entertainment, it is the best party that you will be invited to in Preston this year!

When and Where

The excitement will start to build from midday on Sunday 23rd June on Moor Park in Preston. Local and visiting dance troupes will dance their way along the procession route through the streets of Preston from the Deepdale area, down Meadow Street and back to the park along North Road and Garstang Road. Music will be primarily Soca, Calypso and Reggae along with a Steelpan orchestra.

Entertainers will perform on a main stage throughout the afternoon, along with a DJ and compere. There will be Caribbean food stalls, as well as other international foods available. Family entertainment includes children’s activities, mascot, inflatables and creatures, so it is definitely an event not to be missed, for all the family.

The activities will start on Saturday 22nd June with the One Park, 10 Sound Systems music festival from 12 noon until 9pm. Sound systems were also introduced by the Windrush generation who looked to bring something from the Caribbean to their new home towns. Headlining on the Saturday is Iration Steppas from Leeds, along with nine other sound system performers from around the UK.

The Preston Caribbean Carnival is the biggest party Preston will see in 2019 and expects 15,000 visitors to join in the fun. Celebrating the flamboyant, creative Caribbean culture within our city, it is a great day out for all the family.

So why not join in the fun.
