Celebrating 20 Years Of Culinary Excellence…

This Christmas La Locanda owners agrichef Maurizio and his wife Cinzia Bocchi have much to celebrate, with December also marking the award-winning restaurant’s 20th anniversary!

Originally from Lake Maggiore in northern Italy, Maurizio Bocchi gained his diploma as a perito agrario (agriculture expert) and working for a local agriturismo (holiday farm), he gained his knowledge in the manufacture of butter, fresh aged cheeses and cured meats.

Maurizio and Cinzia moved to Lancashire in 1996 where Maurizio furthered his agricultural education and worked at a local Italian restaurant as comis chef, quickly promoted to senior sous chef.

With the ultimate goal of having their own restaurant, they opened La Locanda’s doors in 2003 and the admired, fine-dining Italian restaurant in Gisburn continues to win an array of awards.

“We have always felt at home in the Ribble Valley. In fact, the surrounding villages remind us very much of Italy – from the springtime weather (and rain!) to the friendly, welcoming people. So, although we are Italian, we also feel a little bit Lancastrian too,” says Cinzia Bocchi.

In a cosy setting full of original, rustic charm and a traditional menu of seasonal family recipes, La Locanda’s dishes showcase wonderful Lancashire produce along with the very best Italy has to offer – respecting the traditions of Italian cuisine, culture and heritage.
