CELEBRATING THE CHINESE NEW YEAR

Prestigious Chinese restaurant Yu and You was established by chef Charlie Yu in Horwich in 1989, before moving to its current premises at Copster Green in 2002. The restaurant is now run by Charlie’s sons, Victor and Vinny, and still retains a relaxed, family feel whilst offering the best in fine dining, fantastic presentation and excellent customer service.
The award-winning restaurant added to its already impressive accolades in December after scooping a top prize at this year’s British Chinese Food Awards, held in London.
The restaurant will be celebrating both Valentine’s Day and Chinese New Year in February with two carefully selected banquets that are perfect for a special occasion. Menus are based on traditional Chinese cuisine with a contemporary twist using the finest, locally sourced fresh produce, infused with incredible flavour.
Throughout the weekend of the 16th February the restaurant will see in the Chinese New Year of the Dog with a sumptuous three-course banqueting menu championing the best of contemporary Chinese cuisine, from dim sum and crispy duck to slow cooked belly pork and chilli king prawns.
General Manager Steve Goodwin-Allen tells me: “The Year of the Dog is very auspicious in Chinese culture and is considered to bring a year of good fortune. We are really looking forward to celebrating with our customers and have put together a delicious menu paired with some optional wines from our extensive drinks menu.
“We also have a special Valentine’s Day menu that’s perfect for two people sharing. Couples can relax before their meal in our intimate bar area and enjoy a choice of cocktails and drinks mixed by our talented bartenders.”
“We have a lot of exciting plans in the pipeline for 2018,” Steve summarises. “We will be closing for several weeks in April while we refurbish and extend the restaurant to offer an even better dining experience, and we also have our popular cocktail masterclasses available throughout the year.”
