Christmas and New Year at the Ribble Valley’s most in-demand gastropub looks set to be magical with new seasonal dishes on the menu.

With Christmas Day sold out almost as soon as the menu was announced, there’s still time to enjoy the set Christmas menu in the run-up to the festive season and of course, there’s New Year to celebrate too with a fabulous line-up of dishes devised by talented chef patron Bob Geldeard.

Since it opened earlier this year this beautiful country inn, set in the heart of the village of Grindleton, has been a focal point for the local community as well as diners travelling from further afield.

It has become a firm favourite firstly for the wonderful food but also for the fabulous ambience that has been created.

The surroundings are cosy, the perfect space in which to enjoy a relaxed lunch or a sumptuous seasonal supper.

The interior features wood panelling, original oak beams, a huge fireplace and a feature quartz-topped bar. There is a modern open plan kitchen in the main restaurant, where diners can see the chefs at work creating a modern, vibrant experience, while the bar is traditional and cosy and the garden room provides additional space with breathtaking views over Pendle Hill.

With Christmas around the corner Bob has created a wonderful menu celebrating all that the season has to offer. Available Wednesday to Saturday lunchtime and Wednesday and Thursday evenings, the set Christmas Menu features game terrine with rowanberry jelly among the starters along with the Ribble Valley’s renowned Wellgate smoked salmon, served with pickled cucumber and potato pancake – simply delicious!

Among the main courses diners can choose from a mouthwatering line-up that includes traditional festive turkey as well as other seasonal choices including cod with sourdough crust served with lobster sauce and leek vinaigrette. And, of course, we all know the Rum Fox has become well known for its delicious pies and Christmas is no exception! Bob has created a seasonal peppered venison pie, served with the pub’s popular crinkle cut chips, roasted roots and pepper sauce – a feast for the eyes and just perfect on a cold winter’s day as Christmas approaches!

If you want to celebrate in style then the Rum Fox is the perfect place to get together with friends on New Year’s Eve, which will see guests enjoying snacks paired with classic English sparkling wine on their arrival.

Diners can see out 2023 with celebratory dishes that will delight with a luxurious menu featuring local Lancashire ingredients such as venison, tasty crab and a classic dish devised by Bob – cod with his signature oyster and champagne sauce.

Gaining instant popularity from the moment it opened its doors, the Rum Fox continues to delight with events such as Wine Dinners – earlier this year expert Richard Bracken from Milestone Wines selected a series of wines from the Milestone cellars to complement a menu especially created for the evening by Bob and his brigade.

Hoping to hold some forthcoming festive events, such as a Carol Singing Evening at the Rum Fox, keep an eye on social media and the website to see what’s happening at this popular country inn.
