A Clitheroe company has launched an appeal for businesses to take part in a charity sports days that promises to be full of fun as well as raising vital funds for a worthy cause

FS Accountants in Clitheroe are on the look out for local businesses up for the challenge of taking part in a Corporate Charity Sports Day to raise funds for LAM Action, a charity supporting women with Lymphangioleiomyomatosis (LAM), a rare progressive lung disease.

LAM predominantly affects the lungs, where it causes excessive growth of smooth muscle cells which progressively destroy lung tissue and erode lung function. Although research is ongoing, currently there is no cure for LAM and effective treatment is limited. For some women with LAM lung transplantation is their only means of survival.

For FS director Sarah Sharples, who set up FS Accountants with fellow director Damian Farragher six years ago, LAM Action is a cause close to her on a personal level as she was diagnosed with LAM at the age of 30: “Most women who are diagnosed with LAM, face declining lung function and the rate of this decline varies from woman to woman. Some women may need to carry oxygen with them and some may ultimately need a transplant. Being diagnosed with a progressive disease that has no cure is a scary thing to face. Medical breakthroughs are being made all the time and my hope is that by raising money we can help find a cure.”

The FS Charity Sports Day for LAM is being held at Clitheroe Rugby Club on Friday 23rd June at 4pm and will see teams being put through their paces as they are taken back to the good old days of school, competing in activities such as the egg and spoon race, wheel barrow race and three legged race.

Entry is £145 for four people and each team member will receive a t-shirt and medal along with entry to the presentation awards evening including supper, raffle and evening entertainment. Spectator tickets are also available for £20 per person so there’s no excuse not to cheer your team mates on!

FS Accountants which offers accountancy, payroll and support services to businesses across the Ribble Valley, are confident that the Corporate Charity Sports Day is set to be not only a fun packed event, but also a great team building opportunity.

With limited team places available these will be issued on a first come first served basis. If you would like to submit a team, or to enquire about sponsorship opportunities, please email:
