THINK PINK
A Think Pink charity ball is to be held at the Midland Manchester. The event will be hosted by Alison Bray and friend and previous work colleague at Greater Manchester Police, Kath McKenzie. Kath developed breast cancer and as a result had a double mastectomy followed by numerous treatments of chemotherapy and care from a brilliant team. She has always wanted to give something back, and since retiring from the police force has wanted to raise funds for Prevent Breast Cancer Wythenshaw Hospital – a breast cancer charity funding ground-breaking research. The black tie Think Pink charity ball is to be held on 3rd November at 7.30pm. There will be drinks on arrival, a three course meal, entertainment, an auction and live entertainment.
Tickets: £65

CLUB SCORES FOR DERIAN HOUSE!
Mirroring its success on the field, Clitheroe Rugby Club has marked its 40th anniversary by raising £500 for Derian House Children’s Hospice. The club raised the money by running a series of fundraising events throughout the season, culminating in a Croquet and Pimms party, held at the club’s Littlemoor ground and co-hosted with a local chapter of Business Networking International (BNI). This event saw Clitheroe players Richard Few and Ross Chamberlain, both also BNI members, present Derian House with a £500 cheque. Elaine Middleton, Derian House’s Corporate & Sponsorship Fundraiser, was overwhelmed at the generosity of the club. Clitheroe Chairman Bob Wilkinson explained: “We decided that the best way to celebrate the heritage of our proud, local club was to raise as much money as possible for charity throughout our 40th year. We chose to support Derian House along with MIND, a national charity which does fantastic work supporting those struggling with mental health issues.”

SLAIDBURN STEAM FAIR
The 38th Slaidburn Steam Fair, which was held in fields next to the Hark to Bounty attracted a record number of exhibits and visitors this year. The gloriously sunny weather attracted hundreds of visitors to the event, which has grown year on year. Exhibitors came from all over the UK to experience the fair which also featured classic cars and vintage tractors as well as the iconic steam engines.
Proceeds from this year’s steam and vintage vehicle fair have been split equally between North West Air Ambulance and the British Heart Foundation. Organiser David McNamee, who presented cheques to both charities for £2,300, said: “The fair was a resounding success – one of the best ones we have ever held.”

LADIES CHARITY EVENT
A Ladies Prosecco Afternoon, held at Samlesbury Memorial Hall, raised £2,800 for two charities. The event, which was attended by around 50 ladies, featured a quiz, live entertainment from Steve Williams and a hugely successful auction of items donated by local businesses. Cathy Evans, Memorial Hall trustee, commented: “We would like to thank everyone who supported this fund-raiser – all the businesses for the items donated for the auction, plus those who donated Prosecco, as well as all the ladies who attended and those who helped in the background and on the day. We are extremely grateful.”
The money raised from the event will be split equally between Samlesbury Memorial Hall and North West Air Ambulance.
