Christmas Celebrations Begin…
The festive season is about to arrive at Eight at Gazegill with a wonderful winter menu in the most perfect countryside surroundings, writes Gail Bailey
Chef Doug Crampton and his Eight at Gazegill team are starting to prepare for the upcoming festive season and can’t wait to welcome everyone into their beautiful countryside restaurant: “We’ve had a fabulous autumn in the restaurant and a successful ‘Foragers Feast’ event,” says restaurant manager Kim Talbot. “But our thoughts now turn to the festivities, and we are so excited to share our first Christmas menu with customers.”
Special Christmas dishes begin from 14th November and continue through to 21st December with a set Festive Menu but with the added bonus of two special Christmas Menu’s available for the 23rd and 24th December. Doug’s mouthwatering dishes as you would imagine, come with seasonal twists!
Kim explains: “The Festive Menus are set in a 3-3-3 format where guests have a choice of three from each starter, main course and dessert. Some of the dishes created by our talented chef and his team include confit venison shoulder tacos with black garlic, fermented red cabbage and preserved brambles, kelp-cured cod with celeriac, Bolney English sparkling wine, mussels and dill – and desserts such as a gingerbread mince pie, Gazegill apples, finished with our signature Emma’s Dairy’ raw milk soft serve ice cream. Perfect!”
The Christmas Menus on the 23rd and 24th December differ to the Festive and are equally unique and a true taste experience: “We always have vegetarian options available and for our two special opening days we have main courses of either wood roasted sirloin ‘cottage pie’, winter pesto with red wine gravy – or wood roasted organic squash with sage and onion gnocchi, raw milk curd, picollo parsnip and candied chestnut,” Kim says. “Both dishes are accompanied by tasty and traditional roast potatoes, Yorkshire pudding, barbecued carrots, shredded sprouts with nutmeg butter – wholesome, delicious and full of festive flavours!”
Each table at Eight has stunning views of the nature that surrounds the restaurant, cast under the ever-watchful eye of the iconic Pendle Hill. Gazegill is committed to organic, sustainable farming and produce and this threads into the very ethos of the dishes created by Doug and his team. Christmas is the perfect time of year to experience this – celebrating the festive season with family and friends.
If you have a ‘foodie’ in your life an Eight at Gazegill gift voucher is the perfect gift. “Eight at Gazegill is a true farm to table dining experience and our vouchers make a perfect Christmas present that can be spent on our whole menu, from a hearty and delicious brunch to our fine dining taster dinner menu,” explains Kim. Vouchers are available in £50, £75 and £100 and valid for 12 months from the date of purchase.
Eight at Gazegill is not just a restaurant, it is a celebration itself of enduring legacy, where each dish tells a story of the farm heritage that is perfectly designed, matched and orchestrated by Doug and his team’s masterful skill in the kitchen. Kim says: “We want to extend all our very best wishes to all our customers for a happy and restful Christmas and look forward to welcoming everyone to experience all that Eight at Gazegill has to offer.”
