Confidence Is Key

After 100 years, Moorland School is more dedicated to building exceptional futures than ever before

This year, 2020, marks the 100th anniversary of Moorland School’s operation, coinciding with a decade of achievement and leadership under its current headteacher. As with any anniversary it provokes thoughts of not only celebration but also self-reflection.

Self-reflection is where Moorland are focusing their efforts.

Despite a complicated year for everyone, Moorland School once again achieved Value Added Scores that far outstrips local, regional and national averages, seeing GSCE, BTEC and A-level results topping the region with 100 per cent pass rates. The school is very keen to push forward maintaining this high standard across the board into the next 100 years. Determined not to stand still and let opportunities pass by, Headteacher Jonathan Harrison says that the whole school operation has doubled down on improving the services they offer even further, highlighting improved communication as just one consideration.

Moorland School has always prided itself on its family ethos ensuring happiness and social stability for its students as well as forward thinking relationships with parents and carers. Determined to improve this further, they’ve taken the necessary steps to embrace technology and push themselves to the forefront of private schools. Moorland is aiming to deliver a service that goes above and beyond the normal level of interaction provided to parents and carers – something they’ve determined is paramount to another 100 years of delivering academic excellence from a non-selective pool of students.

Jonathan states: “We are already known as a school with a great reputation for parent/carer school relationships, but we have to acknowledge there is always room for some improvement. We will provide our parents and carers with an unparalleled level of interaction during term time. Operating as a smaller school, we can really go to extraordinary extents to provide a very personalised service.”

Expanding on just how they plan to deliver this, Jonathan didn’t want to give all the secrets away, but explains: “Some of our existing parents have seen the start of this already during our new term. We will be delivering more regular updates and content to parents via several social and direct channels throughout each term, some of which will be heavily influenced by our new website that is launching very soon.”

Moorland School is currently operating on an ‘Every Day is an Open Day’ policy, meaning that you can book an appointment for a guided tour to fit your schedule, any day of the week. This allows you to experience the day to day activity of the school as part of the Moorland family – and as part of the ‘Moorland difference’ – a sentiment and ethos the school proudly stands behind, resulting in students who leave Moorland School having achieved academic excellence and are happy confident individuals.
