Graduate Class of 2019

Ribble Valley graduates celebrate their achievements

Hundreds of graduates from the University Centre at Blackburn College have celebrated their achievements at prestigious graduation ceremonies.

With over 1,700 friends and family in attendance, the occasion marked the culmination of many years’ hard work for Ribble Valley students, many of whom started degrees with few formal qualifications. In a few years’ time – this could be you!

Studying at the University Centre at Blackburn College allows you to study for a degree locally. Not just any degree however, but a degree awarded by UK Top 10 Lancaster University. This creates distinguished graduates who are well respected and valued in the ever-competitive job market.

You might be put off by the thought of taking out a loan. Don’t be. Study at the University Centre at Blackburn College and you’ll pay nothing upfront.

Then, when you earn £27,000 a year, you’ll pay back just £3 a month. After 30 years that loan is written off, meaning you may never repay all of it.

The University Centre at Blackburn College’s tried and tested model of small class sizes, one-to-one time with teaching staff and close-knit community ethos has resulted in 93 per cent of its graduates going on to work or further study six months after graduation*.

With flexible timetables and a generous financial support package available to full-time students, it has been the unsung hero of many Ribble Valley residents’ success. Particularly those who were previously in unfulfilling careers, who wanted to achieve more in life. Many achieve degrees while juggling family commitments and a full-time job – so don’t doubt that a degree could be for you.

The University Centre at Blackburn College also offers degrees with Foundation Entry, which is a perfect introductory year for those starting with fewer qualifications who still want the full university experience from day one. Graduate Thomas Williams, from Read, was a bricklayer before starting BEng (Hons) Mechanical Engineering with Foundation Entry. He graduated with First-Class Honours and secured a place on a coveted graduate scheme for a sector-leading solution provider in the UK water industry. Thomas said: “The University Centre at Blackburn College was a great choice because it was local to me and with degrees awarded by Lancaster University, in the UK Top 10, I could get a top degree without travelling for hours!”

Applications for September 2020 entry are now open, apply now at: www.blackburn.ac.uk
