Create Your Own Mini-Staycation

The Red Pump Inn, which enjoys breath-taking views over Bowland, has over the years evolved to provide its diners with first class food in its renowned steak restaurant, the finest cask ales behind the bar, an extensive outdoor terrace and beer garden and accommodation in the form of luxury French-inspired boutique rooms, charming shepherd’s huts and cosy glamping yurts in the grounds.

The Red Pump’s Jonathan and Fran Gledhill are always mindful that visitors to the inn, which was built in 1759, expect nothing but the best.

“We are finding that we are getting more and more enquiries from people who want to come to the Red Pump, enjoy one of our famous 40-day dry-aged steaks, a glass of wine and stay overnight. As people can’t take their usual holiday abroad and many UK destinations are booked up, they are staying local to enjoy a mini staycation.”

Taking time during lockdown to spruce up the interior with a new oak floor, Jonathan and Fran have also been building new shepherd huts located behind the pub in an elevated position with stunning views of Pendle Hill.

All the huts sleep two people, have a king size bed, en-suite, fully fitted kitchen, cooker and hob and can be let out for self-catering breaks or overnight stays – with the added bonus of breakfast and dinner available at the inn. Fully insulated with sheep’s wool and with central heating, the huts are a cosy hideaway for a romantic break.

Take a walk through the shale paths in the gardens behind the Red Pump and you will come to the private glamping area, where traditional, yet luxurious, yurts await. Suitable for families or couples, each yurt comes with its own en-suite with powered shower, king size bed and a day bed that can be split into two singles. Outside each yurt has its own decking area with a wood fired chimenea, where guests can enjoy a barbecue or just appreciate the warmth and glow of the flames.

“The yurts are a real treat for visitors who like the outdoors – camping with comfort. What better way to start a break than sleeping under the stars on a blissfully quiet summer’s night,” says Jonathan, who is looking forward to welcoming guests back to the historic inn.

Glamping in the yurts is open to guests from April to September.

The inn’s restaurant is open to guests for food and drink from 19th May.

The boutique rooms and shepherd huts are open to guests from 19th May.

For diners, for couples and for families, the Red Pump represents that most sought-after combination – a warm friendly welcome, luxury accommodation and first class food in a stunning location.
