Decking That Stands Out From The Crowd

Andrew Whalley of Whalley Construction has over 20 years’ experience installing decking using only the highest quality products, writes Gail Bailey

Based in Darwen, Whalley Construction has a long family history of experience in the building trade: “My great, great grandfathers company – RJ Whalley Contractors, actually built Darwen Tower in 1898. It was a prestigious contract for them and actually cost £750 – a huge amount of money at the time!” says Andrew Whalley.

This high level of skill and craftsmanship has been passed down and Whalley Construction are renowned for their quality products and attention to detail in the decking they install: “We take pride in every job that we do and have recently had a decking we built for a customer in Clitheroe featured in The Sunday Telegraph, and videos of our work and installations have had over half a million YouTube hits,” says Andrew.

To further add to this accolade Whalley Construction have just been awarded Official Platinum Contractor status, and are the first company in the UK to achieve this.

Using TimberTech products, who are leaders in the sector, Whalley Construction know they are giving their customers real value for money and a product and service on which they can rely. The decking is hard wearing, fully capped all the way around ensuring strength and durability, and fitted with steel fasteners which guarantee no corrosion.

“The composite decking we use is especially good quality,” Andrew further explains. “It is solid all the way through unlike many on the market and as TimberTech utilise a unique, environmentally-friendly process to turn the recycled hardwood into strong, moisture resistant boards, they are completely natural looking and more durable too.”

Whalley Construction and TimberTech are committed to working towards a more sustainable world and specialise in environmentally friendly decking that does not harm any trees. No trees at all are cut down to make their recycled, eco decking products, as the products are made from post-industrial waste (recycled from factory waste off-cuts).

“The composite is also 100 per cent recycled, being a high quality material primarily from companies such as Honda and Toyota,” adds Andrew.

TimberTech products have a 30-year standard warranty, which means the quality is the best you will find. As Andrew points out: “The product has to match this promise!

“The eco-friendly decking we offer gives the perfect balance of quality and sustainability. The products are an attractive, low-maintenance alternative to wood, and a one-time purchase for most homeowners. Also, since TimberTech products will not splinter or warp, and don’t require any staining or sealing, the wasteful cycle of repair and replacement that’s typical of wood products is dramatically reduced.”

The work of Whalley Construction is held in high esteem, and three of the decking installations done by Andrew and his team have been displayed on articulated lorries and trailers: “Having been laying decking since 2000 I know what works and what doesn’t and have 100 per cent confidence in the products we use.

“The decking we lay is built to last and never has to be sealed, stained or painted. It is far more slip-resistant than others and there are no splinters or cracks to worry about. Composite boards won’t warp or fade in the sunlight and there is no need to worry about the decking bowing – we are confident to install TimberTech decking for our customers and know we have the knowledge and experience to only recommend the very best.”

Collaborating with other local businesses who have the same high-quality ethos is important to Whalley Construction and they have also had a base at Shackleton’s in Chatburn for over a decade. As Andrew says: “People should spend time in their gardens relaxing and enjoying time with family and friends – using our products and skilled craftmanship means our customers don’t have to worry about maintaining their decking, and can do just that!”
