DELICIOUS FESTIVITIES AT THE INN
Tedd Walmsley takes a festive trip to the Cartford Inn, a 17th century multi award winning pub, boutique hotel and deli
Christmas has always been a special time to celebrate with friends, family, and work colleagues – and there is nowhere quite like the Cartford Inn to do this in style.
The Christmas decorations at the inn are spectacular, festooned both inside and out, all decorated with love and the creative edge synonymous with the team at the Cartford. Combine this with the enthusiasm of the staff and you have a recipe for a great time!
The menus are fabulously festive but as always, many have a delicious twist but combined with classics, to suit all tastes. Well priced at just £25 for three courses, the menu looks divine and is available from 1st to 23rd December, lunch and dinner (excluding Saturdays) but must be pre-ordered with the table booking.
I also had time on my last visit to look at the River House – the inn’s separate private dining area. With a maximum capacity of 30 guests, this is a real opportunity to entertain corporately or perfect for bigger family get-togethers. Christmas Eve brings the festivities to a fitting close – the local community sits alongside regulars and families to enjoy the wonderful tradition of carol singing, brass bands and even a visit from the ‘big man’ himself to excite the children – after all it is the night before Christmas! All the great elements for festive fun come together to create an incredible atmosphere alongside the super service and fabulous food.
Over the last 12 months I’ve made regular visits to the inn both to eat and to visit TOTI, the on-site delicatessen with its cornucopia of food and drink. What better gift for those who love food than to purchase either a pre-made hamper of delights or why not create your own bespoke gift around specific favourites, which can also be tailored to budget.
The range of hand selected food products include British charcuterie, fine cheese alongside a myriad of local, regional and international products to tantalise those taste buds. There’s also a fine collection of wines and spirits to complement the food and I imagine, as a foodie, I’d be delighted to receive a gift from TOTI.
Finally if you’re uncertain of timings or tastes then there are gift vouchers – an ideal choice which can be used at both the inn and at TOTI. If you can, please visit the award-winning Cartford Inn this Christmas – the welcome will be warm and you’ll be guaranteed a great time!
