Double Award Joy For Hotel
Gilpin Hotel & Lake House in the Lake District has been awarded two Michelin keys in the first ceremony of its kind for the UK and Ireland
The brand new One, Two and Three Key distinctions have been awarded to the most outstanding hotels. Two Key properties are described by Michelin as those which ‘significantly add to your experience as a traveller, each vetted by hotel experts and judged excellent in five categories: architecture and interior design; quality and consistency of service; overall personality and character; value for the price; and a significant contribution to the guest experience in a particular setting’.
Inspectors heaped praise on Windermere’s Gilpin Hotel & Lake House which it describes as providing ‘classic country house hospitality’ and a lack of pretentiousness combined with ‘unique contemporary Georgian style’. Special praise was reserved for the restaurants at the property, including SOURCE at Gilpin Hotel which Michelin highlighted as ‘perhaps’ Gilpin’s ‘greatest draw, serving sophisticated, award-winning dishes crafted from local Cumbrian ingredients’.
The hotel has also been recognised with a Condé Nast Traveller’s 2024 Reader’s Choice Award in the annual awards which rates the best hotels in the world according to Condé Nast Traveller readers. More than 125,000 travellers from across the UK submitted responses rating their travel experiences across the globe to offer a comprehensive look at the places they eagerly anticipate revisiting.
The Readers’ Choice Awards, with their unparalleled legacy as the travel industry’s longest-running and most prestigious accolades, remain the ultimate symbol and acknowledgment of excellence within the travel sector.
And to top off the good news, Gilpin Hotel & Lake House has been shortlisted in the Best for Romance Category in the 2025 Condé Nast Johansens Awards for Excellence. Created to acknowledge, reward and celebrate the excellence of hotels, spas and venues in the collection, the Condé Nast Johansens Awards for Excellence is a trusted mark of quality, recognised by luxury consumers and travel professionals alike.
