Spring is in the air at the ever-popular, one-stop rural venue, that is the Owd Barn at Bispham, writes Sarah Ulyatt
Located in the picturesque West Lancashire countryside, Owd Barn at Bispham has so much to offer with its farm shop, tearoom and home and gift lofts – all brimming with spring delights.
Monthly Markets
Visit Owd Barn every third Saturday of the month, 10am-4pm for their outdoor markets. Pop-along to browse some amazing local Lancashire makers offering everything from jewellery and toiletries to cakes and bakes, artisan breads, wood turning, wax melts and local beer and gin distillers. Each monthly market features between 15 and 20 stalls meaning there’s always something for everyone. Also, see social media for details of a special Easter market on Saturday 16th April.
Farm shop treats
The Owd Barn’s farm shop is full of spring produce including cabbages and spuds grown on the family’s own 200-acre farm – so with zero food miles you’ll be doing your bit and helping the planet by shopping local. Continuing the sustainable theme, and set within the farm shop, is the recently opened Butcher Farrell’s Meat Emporium where all meat is ethically produced from small independent UK farms. Keep an eye on Owd Barn’s website and social media for exciting upcoming events including a Supper Club with Butcher Farrell.
With all of this on offer, Owd Barn at Bispham really is the place to visit this spring, not forgetting the tearoom with its delicious homely menu and afternoon tea at just £15 per person (bookable 48 hours in advance). The Spud Shed
October 2020 saw the opening of The Spud Shed, ideally located opposite Owd Barn’s tearoom and next to the picturesque pond overlooking the beautiful West Lancashire countryside. The Spud Shed is home to a range of local businesses including a florist, ladies’ boutique, childrenswear, hairdressers and Yoga studio – a great addition to the Bispham venue. As if Owd Barn didn’t have enough to offer, The Spud Shed truly is the cherry on top!
