Estate Life
Gisburne Park is owned and managed by Guy and Amber Hindley, who are converting it into a thriving five-star, luxury resort
It’s been a while since we did our last Estate Life but we’re back and as busy as ever. As you may or may not be aware, in 2021 during the Covid pandemic, Amber and I managed to purchase Gisburne Park Hospital, my old family home and incorporate it back into the estate.
We also managed to purchase the next door NHS building. So, after 35 years we are now in complete control of the entire estate and can start to realise our dreams. We have recently partnered up with Rural Solutions Ltd, who are helping us to achieve our long term objectives. Originally based at Broughton Hall, they are now situated in Skipton and specialise in helping landed estates diversify and realise their ambitions. They are the UK’s leading specialist in developing whole estate plans (WEP) which assist the owners in master planning their estates for generations to come. We are extremely excited to be working with William and his team and look forward to submitting our application to RVBC within the next few months.
Our goal is to restore the mansion house to its former glory and create a boutique hotel and the north of England’s first private members’ club. The hall is situated in the most spectacular setting, which will all become part of the gardens and grounds of the club. Also planned is a wellness centre, which will be the heart of a biohacking, weight loss, longevity programme that Amber is currently developing with a team of experts.
Elsewhere on the estate we have had some unwelcome issues. Electricity North West installed an underground electric mains on our property but the trench has since collapsed, turning it into a water passage flooding Park Road and some Gisburn residents whenever it rains. It has been a battle and will take a while to remedy the problem.
Our summer menu launches in Hindelinis this week. On the menu are some old classics such as gammon steak and eggs, fish and chips, homemade cheese and onion pie and some new additions including grilled sea bass fillet, duck pancakes and lots of healthy options such as Nicoise salad with hot smoked salmon. Our organic gardens are all planted up ready to provide plenty of herbs and salads to the restaurant and our chickens are busy laying eggs for the ever-popular breakfasts. My mum (chicken chief) is now in charge of the chickens which live and graze in the meadow by her house.
