Gail Bailey chats to Vareys Town & Country owner Kevin Horkin about the exciting opening of the new Lytham store
Popular Clitheroe outdoor clothing store Vareys Town & Country are expanding to the coast with their brand-new shop on Lytham High Street.
What made you choose Lytham as the location for your new store?
We already have customers who come from Lytham to our Clitheroe store – and prior to that 10 years ago when we had a shop in Skipton we would have some regular customers from Lytham come there too. Being by the coast, and a place a lot of people enjoy visiting and walking, it is a really good match for what we do and the clothing and accessories we sell.
Will the Lytham store stock the same brands as Clitheroe?
Yes we’re happy to let everyone know that we will be stocking the same quality brands including Barbour, Dubarry, Aigle, Berghaus, Merrell and many more.
We will have a full range of R M Williams in the store – one of the best-known and best-loved boot brands in the world. They are designed with purpose at the core of each pair, ensuring comfort, style and durability; the range makes boots that are really made to last.
The Lytham store will be a key stockist also of iconic German brand Schöffel with no other store stocking this fabulous range for miles around us. They specialise in high-quality clothing for outdoor life with a real classic style; Schöffel’s products are favoured by so many of our regular customers. The range includes a variety of clothing suitable for different activities, climates and occasions.
One of Schöffel’s standout items that we will stock is their fleece gilets for men and women. These sleeveless layers provide warmth and comfort while allowing freedom of movement, making them ideal for outdoor adventures – like walking along the wonderful stretch of Lytham sea front!
How did you choose the location/building in Lytham?
It isn’t easy securing a retail location in Lytham and we had been looking for about five years for the perfect spot. It is quite unique as a town and really popular, so we were thrilled when we found the building in the centre of the High Street. Being on three floors it will allow us to expand as the business does and we’ve enjoyed the renovation of the building and designing the space to create an authentic rustic and country feel. We know customers will love the new store and the whole shopping experience it creates.
Is there a click and collect service at the shop?
Yes, this will be available in Lytham as well as iPads in the shop where customers can browse the full range of the collections we have and will be able to buy and collect the same day anything we don’t have in stock. We will have a delivery van on the road to ensure we give our customers the most efficient service possible with no need to wait a long time to receive the items they choose. Outstanding customer service is at the heart of what we have always done at Vareys and we are happy to bring this to Lytham and Fylde.
What will the opening times of the store be?
We will be open for five days a week from September when we launch the store but as the autumn and winter season unfolds this will move to seven days.
A lot of people come to Lytham at the weekend, and especially on a Sunday so we want to ensure they are able to visit the shop as part of their day. The wonderful thing about the Lytham and the Fylde region is that there is an event somewhere in the area almost every week. The annual Lytham Festival has become a key date in people’s diaries and grown so much over the years – and there are regular shows and events all around the town including at Lytham Hall and the Pavilion, so it really is the perfect place to visit and we are so happy to now have a Vareys shop on the High Street to add to the list of things for people to do.
