Exciting Times Ahead

After an exciting first six months, the team at CDJ Riverside are looking forward to continued success in 2025 with lots to look forward to, writes Gail Bailey

“It’s been an incredible time since we opened last year and we really do want to thank all the wonderful customers who have come along and enjoyed CDJ Riverside and given us such fabulous reviews,” says Project Manager Erin Kelly.

Originally the much loved Swan pub, CDJ Riverside was the idea of Red Rose Drylining business owners Mark Holden and Michael Anderson, who didn’t want the pub to fall into disrepair: “Mark and Michael were really passionate about reviving the pub and after inviting talented chef Dan Jolley to join them, the restaurant is fast becoming a favourite place to dine and socialise in Lower Darwen – with lots of Ribble Valley residents making the trip over and fast becoming regular customers.”

The first festive season at the restaurant has been a busy and memorable one: “We have had lots of Christmas parties and it’s been wonderful to have so many people celebrating with us. Our tasting menus have been hugely popular and a special Northern Soul New Year’s Eve party rounded our first year off perfectly!” Erin says.

As we arrive in 2025 there is still a fabulous winter wonderland feel at CDJ Riverside with the outdoor area festooned with lights, candles and lots of lovely blankets: “It’s reminiscent of après ski,” says Erin. “The perfect place to feel cosy and enjoy a drink and fine food with friends.”

Dan’s expertise in the kitchen is legendary and he has introduced new dishes: “We are very lucky to have Dan’s experience,” says Erin. “He has a wealth of experience gained in some of the finest Michelin-starred restaurants at home and in Europe.”

Some of the new dishes include Gressingham duck leg served with roast beetroot, fennel and hazelnut pesto, lamb cutlets with sesame and miso hispi cabbage and with a plant-based option of wild mushroom and truffle focaccia served with truffle, walnut and chervil.

“We have had very popular Wellington Wednesdays,” adds Erin. “Plus a flavoursome salmon Wellington with caper and chives and a beurre blanc sauce has been added to the menu – it’s delicious!”

The restaurant will be closed between the 3rd and 16th January for the team to enjoy some rest and relaxation but there is a special offer of 20 per cent discount for food on re-opening which runs until 13th February. Please quote RVL20 at the point of booking to redeem your voucher.

One recent customer review sums up CDJ Riverside perfectly: “Absolute gem of a place! Beautifully decorated and incredible food. Every mouthful of food was divine with amazing combinations all bursting with beautiful flavours.”
