EXCITING TIMES…

A stunning new bar and grill along with a hotel has now opened at the multi-million pound Holmes Mill complex in the heart of Clitheroe

The latest phase in the exciting multi-million pound Holmes Mill development project – the 1823 Spinning Block – has now opened. The Spinning Block is home to a new hotel along with a super-stylish seafood bar and grill – the Bistro, Bar & Grill, which will serve the very best seafood and meat sourced from the on-site Bowland Food Hall.

On the menu expect to find tasty nibbles and starters including Sheeran’s black pudding fritters, Boiler House breads, Cowman’s chipolatas, pressing of ham with Mrs Kirkham’s cheese, while main courses feature sea bass linguine, Bowland beef rib, Porcus belly pork and Bowland steak pie.

Featuring lots of teal blue, antique style ceiling tiles and stunning Eichholtz lighting, the bar and grill which has been described as ‘opulent industrial’ in art nouveau style, is located on the ground floor with its own entrance.

A baby grand piano creates a link from the bar area to the dining room, while exposed brick walls, stone and wood provide interesting focal points that acknowledge the building’s industrial heritage. The light and airy space with huge windows, will also feature an open kitchen.

Holmes Mill Operations manager Andrew Bailey explains: “The Bistro, a modern British seafood and grill restaurant, will continue the Bowland Food Hall ethos of championing local produce.”

In keeping with the rest of the mill, the styling of the first 16 bedrooms of the 38-room hotel continues the pared back industrial theme.

It is just less than two years since work started on the £10 million 64,000 sq ft Holmes Mill project, which is part of the James’ Places portfolio. Since then the mill has been transformed and is now home to Bowland Brewery, the Beer Hall, Bowland Food Hall, a multi-use function room, café and gelataria.

By Easter 2018 the remaining bedrooms will be completed in the hotel, while next year will also see the final phase of the development – a pool, spa and gym.

Already a popular wedding venue, the hotel at Holmes Mill is already taking bookings from guests attending events at the mill as well as corporate customers who will find the hotel a useful addition to the mill’s multi-use function room.

The Spinning Block is initially opening Thursday to Saturday until 14th December when it will be open every day except Christmas Eve and Christmas Day up until 1st January after which it will revert to Thursday to Saturday until Easter.
