Exclusive New Gourmet Menu…

Northcote chef Lisa Goodwin-Allen is delighted that diners will be able to enjoy her new seasonal gourmet menu when the renowned restaurant opens its doors next month

The legions of Northcote fans across the UK, who can’t wait to see the Michelin-starred restaurant open its doors again, will be thrilled to hear that executive chef Lisa Goodwin-Allen and her talented brigade will be back in the kitchen and ready to welcome diners next month!

The past year at Northcote presented an interesting challenge for Lisa and the team, who stepped up to the mark to create an alternative dining experience – Northcote at Home gourmet boxes.

“It has been amazing,” says Lisa. “I am very proud of the Northcote at Home boxes. It kept the Northcote name out there and we were so well supported. It was truly remarkable.”

During their most successful period with the gourmet boxes, in the run up to Christmas, Northcote was sending out around 500 a week, delivering throughout the UK.

“We didn’t really know what to expect at the time, but people really got behind us and for that, we are truly grateful. People loved them and it also presented us with an opportunity to adapt, learn and develop,” adds Lisa.

As the restaurant prepares to open, Northcote at Home boxes will be scaled down to 100, as Lisa explains: “I think the demand will still be there. People still want a special date night treat.”

With a new restaurant menu in the pipeline, Lisa is looking forward to connecting with Northcote’s leading suppliers, producers and artisans: “It’s like going from one mile an hour to 100 in a short space of time! Our menus are always based on seasonality and at the moment there’s so much coming into season – we will be on the cusp of spring and summer – think Jersey Royals, lighter cuts of meat, poussin, shellfish and it’s also lobster time too.

“I have been making contact with the suppliers and working closely with them to see what they have.”

With some of the 60-strong team furloughed and others kept on to work with Lisa on the gourmet boxes, Northcote is gradually bringing the whole team back together: “We have kept in contact with all staff members and we’ll all be getting back together to look at the new menu before opening – easing them back into the kitchen and ramping things up so we are firing on all cylinders when we open.”

Once open, Northcote will, of course be following all safety guidelines for guests and staff members: “We want the kitchen team to return to a happy productive environment. I think that’s incredibly important,” adds Lisa, who has made a number of TV appearances.

“I do enjoy doing the TV work – it’s another avenue and it’s something different. I am really passionate about developing the up-and-coming talent we have – seeing the next generation of chefs develop. It’s an honour to be involved with them.”
