EXPANSION PLANS AHEAD
Prestigious timber suppliers Wyder Engineered Timber Systems are in an exciting period of growth and development, writes Gail Bailey
Longridge based company Wyder Timber, who are arguably the largest timber supplier in the local area, are about to get even bigger. The business has just had planning permission approved to expand their existing building to more than double its current size. This in turn means that they are looking to recruit more employees to their team – they are in fact looking to nearly double their capacity.
“Doubling our workspace means we need to significantly increase our workforce,” explains Sales Director David William. “We employ people with current experience in the timber trade but are also committed to developing our employees, and we offer qualification-based training for those without experience. As a company we are keen to invest in our employees.”
“We are expanding our capacity due to demand – to keep pace with some of our largest clients we need to focus on our own growth as we look towards the future.”
Some of the clients Wyder Timber work with include house builders Story Homes in Chorley, Morris Homes, and for over a decade Belway Homes: “As housebuilders increase the number of units they are developing, this in turn increases the output we need to produce,” adds David.
Preston based PWA Planning have been working with the team at Wyder Timber throughout the planning application and David is keen to say how grateful the company are to the expertise and support supplied by PWA throughout the whole process: “A huge amount of work has gone into the application, and PWA Planning have put a lot of effort into the entire project to ensure there is minimum impact on the surroundings.
“Ensuring that the new building is completely in keeping with the current premises, which is built in natural stone, has been really important to us.”
Wyder Timber are also appreciative of the support they have received from their neighbours as David adds: “We really do want to say a big thankyou to all our neighbours for continuing to support us – it is a massive boost for us and means a lot.”
