Getting married is a huge commitment and couples are always on the look out to make their day extra special, but that also includes the obligatory hen and stag dos.

Gone are the days when you just went for a meal and a drink. Now celebrations last a weekend, if not longer. Trying to find something that’s suitable for everyone’s taste and budget can be a minefield. However, if you don’t want to organise the event yourself, there are now numerous packages and plenty of activities with destinations all over the UK, so you don’t have to travel far.

If you’re looking for an adventurous stag or hen do your whole tribe will never forget, choose Go Ape! With sites available around the UK, you can swing through the trees or test out the terrain on a Segway – all in fancy dress of course!

For something more serene, why not private charter a canal barge for the evening and have a leisurely dinner. Bridgewater Cruises offer the chance to explore the historic Bridgewater Canal from Worsley to Manchester, or alternatively there is the opportunity to enjoy a leisurely afternoon tea with all the goodies made in the galley on board.

For speed and thrill seekers Bounce Below aims to give a shot of pure, unadulterated fun in a spectacular setting deep underground. Set in a former slate mine in North Wales, you can play, slide, roll, jump and bounce from net to net in a cavern the size of a cathedral.

For footie fans, there’s a chance to play a 60-90-minute football match with the legend of your choice and enjoy a pint with them afterwards. With 25 destinations to choose from, you’ll be sure to find your dream player. On the same website there’s also ideas for hen parties too, from bottomless brunches and cocktail making to cookery workshops and life drawing classes, you’ll find everything you need to plan the perfect party. If you fancy trying accommodation with a difference, have a go at glamping. There are many luxury camp sites throughout the UK showing us another way to camp, some feature vintage style lodge tents with four poster beds, kitchens and even roll top baths – it’s a genteel introduction to the great outdoors. If you want to stay in the Ribble Valley there are glamping opportunities right on your doorstep. Set amidst the outstanding natural beauty of the Forest of Bowland, the picturesque Red Pump Inn sits at the heart of the tiny village of Bashall Eaves, near Clitheroe. Glamping guests can enjoy a night under the stars in luxury yurts complete with fur throws and a cosy wood burning stove. Great for a short break with friends!
