FIND YOUR HIDDEN ZEN

Need a break from the pace of modern life? Come and find your hidden Zen at The Spa Hotel at Ribby Hall Village, writes Ursula Hurst

Feeling ready for a break from the seemingly endless winter, I decided to indulge in a spa day with my daughter and having heard about the recent enhancements at Ribby Hall Village, we decided to investigate.

It was our first visit and we were pleasantly surprised at how accessible it is being minutes away from Junction 3 of the M55. Approaching through Ribby Hall Village, we were impressed by the elegant white hotel with beautiful landscaped gardens complete with a fountain and lake.

We were greeted by genuinely warm staff who explained our programme and where everything was, making us first timers feel at ease. This excellent service continued throughout the day with every member of staff we came into contact with. No request was too much trouble and it came as no surprise to learn later that the spa has just been awarded the ‘Best for Customer Service Award’ by the Good Spa Guide.

Starting with the Aqua Thermal Journey we were escorted to the newly extended changing area, which was well equipped with several vanity stations with hairdryers and straighteners as well as a plentiful supply of roomy lockers and showers. The experience consists of no fewer than nine elements, which are designed to detoxify, relax and revitalise and we were given a handy pocket map to guide us on our journey.

Although there is a recommended sequence to allow the gradual build-up of heat I must confess that we made a bee-line for the Zen Garden, a peaceful outdoor space with open views, which can be enjoyed all year round.

The existing facilities have been improved through an investment of £200,000 to include a second hot tub, a Himalayan salt sauna and an outdoor experience shower with mood lighting and body jets. We enjoyed each of these in turn, taking time in between to relax on the comfy loungers and enjoy the view with a refreshing drink from the bar.

It was then time for our treatments. From the wide range of options available, we chose the Ishga seaweed full body massage which left us in a mellow haze of sheer contentment. Following a tasty light lunch in The Orangery with views overlooking the lake, I enjoyed an ELEMIS Booster Facial and Jen had a Jessica manicure (both highly recommended).

In no time at all it was time to leave and we resolved to visit again soon to pause, rewind and find the peaceful relaxation of our own Zen.
