Mini-Markets
The Larder Cafe in Preston is holding Christmas mini-market events with local artists and craftspeople. The ‘Made for Christmas’ events begin at the end of October, from 1.30pm to 4.00pm, and will run each Saturday until Christmas. The cafe has now invited artists, photographers, craftspeople and makers to book a table and sell their wares.

Pop-up restaurant opens in Miller Arcade
Fino Tapas pop up restaurant has opened in the Miller Arcade whilst renovations are being completed at their Guildhall Street Venue. The pop up is set to be open throughout the festive period. The eatery has temporarily relocated to the former Olive Tree site.

Fulwood man plans foodie haven
The Wellington Inn’s new owner is planning to open the pub as a daytime restaurant this November. Former restaurant manager Jordan Ebbs, 32, originally from Fulwood, began his career in Preston before moving to Manchester for eight years. Jordan has experience working in the food and hospitality sectors, having worked for DoubleTree by Hilton, Turtle Bay and Marco Pierre White.

Italian Orchard Expansion Plans
A planning application has been submitted for an expansion at The Italian Orchard in Broughton. The application is for a two-storey rear extension that would be built over the area previously used as an open storage area behind the kitchen. The expansion would be 205 square metres and the ground floor would be used for areas for the staff, storage and service accommodation. On the first floor there are plans to have two offices, one meeting room and one admin room, along with a small kitchen and bathrooms.

Masterchef Finalist on Winckley Square
Mark O’Rourke, restaurant entrepreneur, is preparing for the relaunch of his Preston city centre restaurant ‘263’. Oli Martin, a BBC Masterchef: The Professionals finalist in 2018 and winner of BBC Masterchef The Professionals: A Festive Knockout in 2020, has been appointed as his new Executive Chef. Previously, Oli was Head Chef of Hipping Hall’s 4 AA Rosette restaurant until October this year, but after eight years at Hipping Hall and following several lockdowns during the pandemic Oli wanted a change of scenery. Mark O’Rourke’s fine dining restaurant 263, named in honour of his son’s birth date and located in Preston’s chic Winckley Square Hotel, has now been completely redesigned by Oli. The 32-cover restaurant has new décor, tables, seating, bar and artwork, and the kitchen has also received a major bespoke transformation.

Clay Pot Kebabs
Taste of Turkey in Preston is known for its delicious, authentic food. Now, they have taken their cuisine one step further and have become the first restaurant in the UK to launch delicious clay pot kebabs. Also known as ‘testi kebabs’ it is a traditional kebab variety of the Cappadocia region of Turkey. This Kebab variety has various names in English such as pottery kebab, clay kebab and terracotta kebab. It is made with lamb cubes, shallot onions, tomatoes, garlic, long green pepper, black pepper, butter and tomato paste.
