GIVING PLASTIC THE BOOT
Booths supermarkets have announced that the chain will be taking a series of practical steps to dramatically reduce the amount of plastic used in the business. The changes being made include the gradual removal of single-use plastic bags in all stores, to be replaced with the new ‘bag for life’ made from 90 per cent recycled plastic, compostable loose produce bags and a reduction in the thickness of the film gauge in packaging. The Carnforth store is one of the first to make these changes, introducing market-style shopping which sees fewer pre-packed fruits and vegetables and a wider range of loose produce on offer.

PRIVATE DINING
Since its arrival in Leeds over a year ago, Tattu has set a precedent for premium dining in the city. Serving contemporary Chinese cuisine which fuses traditional flavours with modern cooking methods and exquisite presentation, the restaurant now houses two private dining areas to offer guests an exciting dining experience for a special occasion or seasonal event. Both rooms have been decorated with attention to detail to produce two beautiful settings for eating out in style.

GREAT TASTE AWARD WINNER
Great Taste, the world’s most coveted blind-tasted food awards celebrating the very best in food and drink, has announced the Great Taste stars of 2018. Out of 12,500 products to be judged, Choc Amor of Lancashire was awarded a two-star Great Taste award for their Brown Butter and Nibs in a rich 45 per cent milk chocolate and a one-star award for their Tonka Bean in 61 per cent dark chocolate. Choc Amor was one of the biggest winners in Lancashire and the only chocolatiers to win a coveted two-star award.

GLOBAL ACCLAIM

The lavish award ceremony took place at the magnificent five-star Galgorm Resort & Spa in Ballymena, Northern Ireland, where Bertram’s succeeded in eliminating the competition from more than 1000 entrants from 42 countries around the globe.
