Head chef at the Red Pump Inn, Thomas Drinkall has made some changes to the menu introducing a number of new dishes which focus on seasonality and showcasing some wonderful producers. New additions include black and white pudding fritters, pork and chorizo cassoulet, a new 90-day dry aged ribeye steak and Amaretto baba with raspberries.
TASTE LANCASHIRE 2017
Travel and tourism experts will gather to discuss the future of Lancashire food at this year’s Taste Lancashire event. Travel guru Alastair Sawday, Edwin Booth, CEO and Chairman of Booths, and Jay Rayner have been announced as speakers at the inaugural conference at Holmes Mill, Clitheroe, on Wednesday 6th September.
FESTIVAL SUCCESS FOR BREWERY
Clitheroe Food Festival revellers carried on the party at the town’s newest venue and home of Bowland Brewery, Holmes Mill. The brewery served 2,342 pints to festival goers on the market and from the Bowland Bus. At Holmes Mill after the festival, visitors enjoyed indoor and outdoor bars, live music, a pie factory, pizza ovens and barbecues, as well as the Beer Hall and Bowland Food Hall.
WINE BY THE GLASS MACHINE
Fullaloves Wines have introduced a new addition to their Longridge bar which has been possible thanks to their Crowdfunding campaign contributors. The machine keeps the wine at the perfect temperature and will maintain the wines freshness for up to a month. It will hold eight wines at one time, four red and four white which will rotate on a regular basis to constantly let customers try new tastes.
COOKERY SCHOOL TEAM
Northcote has appointed Jason Birkbeck as head tutor and Emma Lawson as junior tutor at its renowned cookery school. Jason brings with him several years’ experience as a chef at fine-dining establishments such as Hipping Hall and The Torridon, which he took to AA three rosette standard. He started his career at Northcote and returned for his most recent stint as group head chef across the company’s Ribble Valley Inns.
Country pub the Stags Head in Goosnargh has recently opened its doors after being closed for a number of months. The team at the gastro pub pride themselves on using the best local produce to provide excellent food.
