CONSULTATIONS AT OUR OPEN DAY

Award-winning RejuvaMed is holding a Women’s Health Open Day at its Clitheroe clinic. Sarah Varley finds out more

On Saturday 9th November, free consultations (saving up to £75) will be available with Dr Helen McKeating, RejuvaMed’s experienced GP, who specialises in women’s health and gynaecology.

Dr Helen will talk patients through two treatments available at the clinic, the 3D-Vjuve and bioidentical hormone replacement therapy (BHRT), both of which can be life-changing.

RejuvaMed is the first clinic in Lancashire to introduce BHRT, a natural and effective alternative to current NHS HRT treatments. Dr Helen states: “We are delighted to be able to offer this plant-based, natural treatment for menopausal symptoms. It isn’t available through the NHS, yet we feel it is a superior, safer treatment with fewer side effects which is carefully tailored to each client.”

Bioidentical hormones have the same chemical structure as naturally occurring hormones, which diminish as we age, and can benefit patients who have a hormone imbalance, particularly if they have tried other hormonal medications on the NHS and experienced unwanted side effects.

“Blood tests are used to pinpoint specific issues and a personalised treatment plan is devised with a tailor-made hormone prescription,” Dr Helen explains. “BHRT can give relief from a wide range of pre-menopausal and menopausal symptoms including hot flushes, night sweats, mood changes, weight gain and sleep issues. It can also help treat other hormonal imbalances such as menstrual problems, post-natal depression and osteoporosis.”

RejuvaMed also is the first local clinic to offer 3D-Vjuve laser therapy for ‘intimate problems’. Dr Helen says: “Many women experience potentially embarrassing and inconvenient stress or urge incontinence, meaning they have ‘oops!’ moments when coughing, laughing or sneezing. It is thought that up to 60 per cent of women experience such symptoms, but there is limited help available via the NHS. Patients may be offered physiotherapy with pelvic floor exercises at one end of the treatment spectrum, or major surgery at the other, but very little in between.”

3D-Vjuve is a new high-tech system which can quickly help resolve those problems painlessly and effectively with a very easy, walk-in, walk-out treatment requiring only a local anaesthetic and little or no downtime.

“3D-Vjuve is a vaginal-tightening treatment that works in a minimally invasive way stimulating new collagen production and improving the thickness of the vaginal lining. This allows us to manage a range of post-childbirth and peri-menopausal issues, from incontinence to vaginal atrophy (thinning and inflammation of the vaginal wall) and dryness. It can also improve sexual function,” Dr Helen explains.
