Longridge Gallery starts its Christmas season with an exhibition showcasing the work of Lancashire artist David Youds

Artist David Youds, who finished second at Create Longridge 2019, has completed a number of new landscape works that will have their first public showing at Longridge Gallery from 20th November. Inspired by the Lancashire landscape, these new pieces are bound to be popular with Ribble Valley residents.

As well as his richly deserved runner-up place in the town’s premier painting competition in July, David will feature in TV’s Sky Arts’ Landscape Artist of the Year competition, broadcast on 12th November. His progress in the competition cannot be revealed at this stage but we’ll be tuned in to find out if he progresses beyond his heat.

Sponsor of the Create second prize, Kier Living Northern, was so impressed by the painting, entitled ‘Bowland View’, it has created a small limited edition run of the work for residents at its new Alston Grange development on the outskirts of the town. Each print will be personally signed by David.

If you want to view the new exhibition and meet the artist at the same time you can! David will be painting live at Longridge Gallery on the 28th November as part of the Longridge Does Christmas celebrations.

He will be in the gallery from 6pm until 8.30pm so come along and have a glass of wine and enjoy this very talented artist in action.
