Get Your Health Kick

Off To A Great Start

By the end of January, most of our new year’s resolutions have gone out of the window but if you get off to a good start, 2018 could be the beginning of something great, writes Emma Brereton

Following a huge refurbishment in June last year, the gym and spa facilities at The Marriott Hotel in Preston, has created a wonderful retreat right on our doorstep.

“There are lots of budget gyms around competing for business but none can compete with the standard we have achieved,” says Kieran leisure club manager at the period style hotel which is set against a beautiful countryside backdrop encompassing 11 acres of preened grounds.

“We have everything you could need from a gym and spa on site including a hairdressers, two jacuzzies, sauna, state-of-the-art exercise area and a comprehensive class schedule. There is always something going on which creates a down to earth, sociable and relaxing atmosphere.”

Members are not tied into any contract all members receive complimentary fitness routines that can be updated every four-six weeks for the entirety of their membership as well as other offers. For example, one of their trainers is currently offering a food diary analysis to help members stay on track with diet and exercise.

At most gyms the personal trainers available are freelance and they’re only interested in gaining private personal training business but at The Marriott, all the gym staff are trained to PT level which means members are given the best advice, suitable to their fitness goals.

Despite being part of the prestigious Marriott chain and having 1,300 members, one of the hotel’s strengths is to make people feel at home in the epitome of luxury. The spa offers a holistic approach to health and wellbeing and uses some of the best products on the market.

Kerrian, senior leisure and spa operations manager said: “We have a number of spa packages available and we like to work with every single client to find out what they require before their visit so that their stay is as relaxing as possible.”

“We are a fully functional spa which means there’s lots of places for guests to relax between treatments including the Tempo Bar which serves Starbucks coffee. Furthermore, our opening times mean that we can be very flexible around times people arrive.”

The spa is open seven days a week from 10:00am – 8:00pm which is great for anyone but especially the corporate traveller. Imagine arriving at the spa after a long drive, booking into the spa, enjoying a long soak in the jacuzzi followed by a soothing back massage. It’s enough to ease the hardest of days.

“The team at our spa are trained to the highest standard,” says Kerrian. “We ensure all of our employees at the spa are Level 3 qualified.”
