Glittering Line-Up
There are lots of exciting events coming up over the festive period. Keep an eye on social media to find out more, writes Anita Orchard president of Clitheroe Chamber of Trade
Christmas is a magical time of year and this year there is a celebration weekend of festivities.
29th November: Starting at the Clitheroe Castle gate, there will be a crib dedication at 5pm expertly accompanied by the sounds of a school choir. Ribble FM will provide music and the Christmas lights will be switched on at 6pm. There is a Christmas trail around the shops where you can pick up your Christmas gifts and there are Christmas markets on Castle Street from 4pm to 9pm. There will also be a mix of delicious seasonal food, drinks and retail vendors. There will be Santa’s sleigh and live music. Local shops will stay open too – a brilliant way to kick off the festive season!
30th November: Santa will pay a visit and set up his grotto at the Clitheroe Castle gates. He will be ably assisted by his elves and maybe a visit from Olaf and his other friends! The Crafty Crew, consisting of Lucie Cooke, Bev from Atelier Arts and Jo from Creation Station, will be hosting Christmas themed workshops for children of all ages and abilities at the castle. Glitterball Events are also busy preparing an exciting Christmas adventure around the castle grounds. There will be an Elf Hunt – find naughty elves around the castle grounds using a trail map. Please keep an eye on Visit Clitheroe social pages for further details.
On Saturday evening the annual Carols on the Castle will be returning to the castle bandstand. This is a magical open-air carol concert event for all the family to sing carols together, both modern and traditional.
Santa will be visiting us again with a sleigh ride around Clitheroe and surrounding villages in December. Whatever the weather Santa and his volunteers will be out throughout December visiting as many streets and houses as they can possibly manage. They have raised over £5,000 for some very worthy local causes.
13th December: Simon Entwistle’s spooky Christmas Ghost Walk around Clitheroe, followed by a two-course meal at the Apricot Meringue.
Here at the Chamber of Trade and Commerce along with our friends at Clitheroe Town Council and Ribble Valley Borough Council, we want to celebrate our lovely town and are calling out to anyone in our community who can offer their time to support us in creating an Events Committee.
We hold events throughout the year and wherever we can, include fund raising for local charities.
Please contact: president@clitheroechamber.co.uk if you are willing to support us in anyway. We hope you can stop by and visit us soon.
