Chef-Patron James Harper has over 23 years’ experience as a chef, and since March 2016 he has brought this expertise to the recently refurbished Atrium at Clitheroe Castle.

James tells me: “Being from Clitheroe I’m delighted to be bringing something new to the Atrium. It’s a truly fantastic venue with the best views in Clitheroe, and with the Castle as such a unique background it’s a great place to come for something to eat and drink or hold an event.”

The café and restaurant is open daily from 9.30am to 4.30pm for drinks, cakes, hot and cold lunches and afternoon teas. The menu has been extended and all of the food is made on the premises using fresh ingredients from high-quality local suppliers. The recent introduction of beautiful picnic lunches and afternoon tea has proved incredibly popular so booking is advisable.

James also offers an outside catering option, where he can deliver bespoke buffet menus for any event, from board meetings to weddings. There is also the option of hog roasts, BBQs, afternoon teas, private chefs and cocktail bars.

“We design all our menus around a client’s needs and budget,” says James. “Whatever their requirements we can work with them to create something wonderful.
“The Atrium Café and Restaurant is also available for private events. It’s fully licenced and room hire is free if booked with one of our catering packages. For groups of 40 and above we offer a bespoke cocktail and canape menu and for a special event nothing beats watching the sun set from the Atrium’s crows’ nest.”

From October 2016 James will be hosting weddings at the Atrium, with various options for both the ceremony and reception. He tells me: “It’s an exciting addition to the business and we are looking forward to working with couples to make their day unforgettable. We will be holding a wedding open day in September, with the date to be announced soon.”

James summarises: “It’s just such a perfect venue for any occasion and I’m looking forward to expanding the business whilst continuing to offer the great service, value for money and excellent food that we are known for.”
