Whether we want to create more privacy or make our drives and patios into safer outdoor play areas for our children and pets, effective gates and railings are an essential part of our homes and gardens.
There are many styles to choose from, would traditional wrought iron designs look best outside your house? Perhaps you would prefer modern metal framed gates infilled with either timber, composites or aluminium? You might also want to consider the extra options for security and ease of use, such as electrical access control.
Luckily the craftsmen at MC Fabrication in Lostock Hall are on hand to understand your requirements, and to create and install bespoke designs to enhance your property.
As business owner Martin Cunningham explains, none of the gates and railings are off-the-shelf products, but are manufactured within the MC Fabrication workshop, using locally sourced materials.
“The design aesthetics are down to the customer, with our professional input,” he says. “Whether your home is a contemporary or traditional build, I can advise which style and colour of gate would be best suited to your home.”
The new outdoor display area which Martin has built next to the Lostock Hall workshop is filled with inspiring ideas. Just opened this spring, it means customers can walk around examples of gates, railings and finishes, all in the fresh air.
From the sleek Iroko hardwood panels for infilled privacy gates, to finials and collars for railings, Martin offers a range of design details. He can bring samples of woods and finishes to home visits if required.
Gates and railings are heavy objects requiring expert installation, particularly if you choose automated electric gates. Martin, who holds a Gate Safe installers certificate, advises customers to buy their gates and their electrification together in one package to be sure that they work together and suit the location.
He launched the business in 2014. It has earned five-star reviews in the Lancashire Safe Trader scheme and is renowned for using quality materials.
“All our iron gates and railings are galvanised and powder coated as standard, offering a large range of colour options and patina finishes,” says Martin, “while our hardwood gates are treated in a widely available teak oil so are easy to re-coat. We want our gates to enhance your home for decades to come.”
