HERE TO HELP…

True Physio have a brand new clinic in the heart of Whalley with a whole new patient-oriented, goal-led approach to physiotherapy, as Sarah Varley finds out

Director and physiotherapist Andy Byrne is delighted with the location of the new True Physio clinic in Whalley and the warm community they’re becoming a part of. “We’re very happy to be right on the high street in Whalley. It’s a beautiful village and everyone seems to know everyone else. Community is very important to us,” Andy tells me.
“We want to provide a clinic that truly supports the community in achieving their health goals.”

The True Physio team are proud of their elegant building on King Street and are excited to share their ethos of teaming patient education with the best traditional hands-on physiotherapy.

“It’s very important to us that we take the time to listen to our patients. We have longer appointments so we can get a very in-depth assessment and ultimately this enhances results,” Andy explains.

“The technologies we have invested in plus the extra time we spend means that our patients have a much better understanding and therefore we see a much higher rate of success, because the patient is completely on board with what we’re doing,” explains Andy.

State-of-the-art technology such as a huge interactive whiteboard sets True Physio apart and is a wonderful tool for helping patients to understand their treatment. At True Physio you don’t just go away with a set of exercises: “We can illustrate exactly what is happening with the patient and tailor video demonstrations to send them. We can film the patients walking, for example, to highlight issues and show also the improvements made through treatment.”

A mindshift is integral too. “Rather than pain, we focus on what goals our patients want to achieve, how we can get them back to living the life they want, doing the things they love. This goal-oriented focus again sees better results,” says Andy.

Often people put up with pain unnecessarily but the True Physio team want to change that. “We understand pain so much more now, and we can do much more to treat and manage it. Pain is no longer an inevitable part of the ageing process and this comes back to education again.”

“We are currently offering free 15 minute assessments so if you have a concern, you have nothing to lose by getting advice from us,” Andy enthuses.

“Peace of mind is vital. In my 14 years of practice I can’t recall a case where nothing can be done to alleviate symptoms. We can always signpost you to other options too. The reason I’m a physiotherapist is because I want to help people.”

Therapeutic massage is also available at True Physio, including sports, remedial and Swedish massage, and podiatry and chiropody services are being added soon to provide exceptional treatments from top to toe.
