Here’s The Good News…

Historically, cars have never been considered a sound investment, but there’s been a considerable turnaround in fortune for motorists, writes Paul Agnew. Photography: Andy Tighe

Do you have any idea what your car is worth? The short – and very sweet – answer is more than you imagine, very possibly significantly more.

Traditionally, cars have never been considered as sound financial investments – you always had to accept that a year or two down the line, the value would have decreased.

But that was then, and this is now.

Take a used BMW for example. The current value could actually be around 20 per cent more than it was say 18 months ago.

If this remarkable turnaround sounds too good to be true, then let me offer an explanation.

Currently, the supply of new cars is being hampered by a global shortage of ‘semi-conductor components’, which has impacted on production and extended delivery lead times.

As a direct consequence, the used car marketplace is particularly buoyant which, in turn, is causing a stock shortage with good used cars being snapped up at a rapid rate.

So, the pressure is on dealerships to keep their stock levels high and that means all kinds of tempting deals for motorists.

At Bowker BMW right here in Lancashire (Preston and Blackburn), the used car teams are on a mission.

“We’re actively looking to quickly add to our Approved Used BMW car stock, it really is as simple as that,” says Paul Vincent, Used Car Manager, Bowker Blackburn BMW.

“The long lead times for new vehicles, at a time of unprecedented demand for the BMW range, is having a real positive knock-on in terms of the used car market and we expect that ‘bounce’ to continue for the foreseeable future.

“The Bowker approach is all about ensuring that we have the best and widest selection of Approved Used cars available to satisfy those customers who wish to change their car now and avoid the wait.”

Andy Banks, Used Car Manager at Bowker BMW Preston agrees: “Our stock levels have taken a hit due to increased sales and we are working daily to get the numbers up.

“There is no doubt that many people driving around would be very pleasantly surprised at the equity they currently have in their cars.

“We are chasing high quality BMWs across the range and the age and mileage doesn’t really matter providing the vehicle can tick all the boxes in our comprehensive car health check.”

But Bowker don’t just talk a good game, they deliver.

If you’re looking to sell or part-exchange, the first thing you need to know is how much your car is worth.

And here’s more good news – it could well be worth more (a higher amount of equity) than you think!

Bowker offer a complimentary Finance Health Check, regardless of make and model, designed to help you discover the optimum time to upgrade.

The FHC includes:
• Part Exchange Valuation
• Finance Settlement
• Equitable Position
• Optimum Upgrade Time
• Review of Current Offers
• Receive Specialist Advice

Bowker BMW’s valuations are quick, accurate and reflect the condition of your car at the time of inspection. Holding a full BMW service history will obviously increase the value.

As a BMW owner we can take it as read that you’ll be seeking to change for another BMW and, once again, Bowker excels.

Whether it’s a fully electric, a plug-in hybrid, a diesel or a petrol, there will be a BMW in stock to suit your requirements.

And if you see a car online, you can actually put your name on it until you’re able to get along to view – all for just a £99 refundable reservation fee.

So, if you’re tempted to sell or part-exchange, all you have to do is make contact with Paul or Andy, either via the enquiry form on the Bowker website or by calling Bowker Blackburn on 01254 274444 or Bowker Preston on 01772 769976.
