HISTORIC TOWN IN STUNNING LOCATION

A thriving ancient market town located on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, Settle stands within stunning countryside, offering outstanding housing and excellent local amenities, writes property expert Neil Wright

Arranged around the famous market square, with a labyrinth of quaint streets radiating out, Settle has many character properties and interesting monuments, such as the Folly Building just off the High Street, which dates back to 1679.

The town is well served with transport links, being at the start of the famous Settle-Carlisle railway, which is renowned as one of the most famous rail journeys in Britain.

In the upper Settle area, only a short walk from the centre, many stone built character cottages congregate around a village green.

Settle is a tourist magnet because of the town’s location and easy access to the Yorkshire Dales National Park, along the River Ribble and the well known Settle Loop.

The town is also a stopping off point on the coast-to-coast cycle route.

As well as being a tourist area, the town is served by many amenities, including eateries ranging from cafes through to fine dining, including local pubs.

Ideally located Settle is within easy travelling distance of the Lake District, the Forest of Bowland AONB and major centres such as Leeds, Manchester and Lancaster.

Educationally, the town is well served with the famous Giggleswick School close by and also Settle High School.

Clapham, a satellite village to Settle, is a conservation village, which has been virtually unchanged through the centuries. However, while Clapham is in a beautiful, rural location, it is well served by fast and reliable broadband and a good mobile signal for those who need a connection to modern life!

Clapham station has a regular train service between Lancaster and Leeds, but as Clapham stands just off the main A65, transport connections are not a problem.

Local estate agents Neil Wright, currently have a development, Dalesview, on the edge of the village that comprises 22 well-designed properties including bungalows, semi-detached and detached houses. All are majority stone faced, built in a traditional manner with slate roofs. The houses, built by award winning McConnell Homes, are built and finished to a high specification using quality fixtures and fittings.
