With its absolute focus on helping clients live safely and happily in their own homes, the dedicated care team at Right at Home takes the perception of caring to a whole new level. The 40-strong team is led by Managing Director Gavin Preston, Director of Care Lowri and Deputy Manager Pat, who remain utterly committed to providing their clients with the finest care possible.

For more than 10 years Preston & South Ribble Right at Home has been committed to offering warm-hearted personal care and support to elderly people and other vulnerable adults who may need that extra element of support to live securely and independently in their own homes.

Right at Home Preston & South Ribble is part of a highly respected global home care franchise of more than 250 independently owned concerns, with branches throughout the UK. It works closely with a number of complementary partners, such as GPs and occupational therapists and has all the necessary expertise to direct clients and their families to related expert services, including those dealing with funding advice and guidance.

So, when it comes to financial concerns, the company’s partner organisations are on hand to advise on the availability of support such as attendance allowance, aid from the NHS and direct payments funding from local authorities.

Gavin said: “We offer several services, including medication administration, companionship, personal care, hospital-to-home help, live-in care, holiday and respite care and end of life care. Each care plan is built around the specific needs and preferences of the individual client. The care packages are flexible, can be altered as circumstances dictate and can be provided on either a short or long-term basis.

Right at Home’s carers are fully trained to help with practical domestic activities, such as making or changing beds, light housework and preparing meals, as well as personal tasks like washing and dressing, continence care, administering medication and helping people wake up and go to bed. The team also includes a registered nurse.

“Our care givers are also specially trained to provide practical and emotional support to those living with Alzheimer’s and dementia, and we provide them with specialist training in catheter and stoma care, pressure and wound management,” Gavin added. “We continually invest in the quality of the service we provide and now – which is uncommon in this sector – we have a registered nurse on our team overseeing our standards of care and ensuring continual improvement in quality.

“We work closely with clients’ needs and wishes together with family members who are able to view when the visits take place and notes taken, through a special online portal. All our staff are stringently checked and care givers are only employed once they have passed all of the safe recruitment checks and have been signed off as competent following in-house training and shadowing. They then go on to complete the Care Certificate certification during their first three months of working with us.”

Right at Home Preston & South Ribble covers a wide area that includes Longton, Much Hoole, Penwortham, Bamber Bridge, Leyland, Fulwood, Ingol, Cottam, Broughton, Longridge and Forton. A proposed expansion in the coming months will introduce services in Lytham and Garstang.
